On sunny days I wash and hang my sheets and blankets out on the line. The scent they pickup is amazing.

When there are thunderstorms I sit on my front porch and watch for a while.

I walk home from work on a beach a block away...it's almost always deserted. I love the solitude.

I have a nice set of headphones for my ipod/iphone/idevice. At night I will sit in a comfy chair close my eyes, have a drink and really listen to the music.

With all of this I think it is the simplicity of the thing that really appeals. Taking a moment for me by myself. When I don't need to recognize social cues, when I don't have to smile (unless I want to), when I am at ease which just isn't very often.

I don't need a whole bunch of things. I also find that it's the little things that make me happy. I think that we should be looking for the little things that make us happy.

The little things that make me happy are:

Staying indoors on a rainy day

Going for a walk with my friends after supper

Seeing a ladybug on a leaf or a tree somewhere

The sounds of different birds singing

When the days get longer

Sunny afternoons

It doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Some of the little things I enjoy are:

- Going out to run at the park and no one else is there
- Coming back from running and being greeted happily by my cat
- Randomly thinking of something funny and laughing to myself
- Seeing Volkswagen Beetles, either in real life or in movies/television
- Getting underneath my sheets at night and savoring how soft and fresh they feel
- Getting out of the shower and feeling fresh
- Watching a good Johnny Depp movie
- Eating one of my favorite foods
- Having a good conversation with my mom or one of my friends

Rainfall, rainfall, rainfall. There's nothing more soothing. I even have Atmosphere Deluxe 7.0 for when it's not raining outside.

Classical music calms my nerves, especially the impressionist music of Rave and Debussy.

Fallout 3 & Fallout 3 New Vegas gets my adrenaline flowing.

Writing music and short stories relaxes me.
