Does anyone know of any artists that depict physical illness/disease? Are there any you recommend? Because I want my A Level project to be about cancer and need to find artists that explore similar themes.
Thank-you in advance _________________ "I may not believe in myself but I believe in what I'm doing" - Jimmy Page |

Does it have to be a contemporary artist?
Frida Kahlo had some disease in her art...although I think her ailments were mostly from an accident she had as a girl. Broken Column and Henry Ford Hospital (about her miscarriage due to her accident). There are more but I don't remember their names. |

Thanks . No, it doesn't have to be contemporary - I'll have a look at Frida Kahlo's work and see what I think. _________________ "I may not believe in myself but I believe in what I'm doing" - Jimmy Page |

You might find this guy of interest.

He was in a show called 'Faking It', years ago, a bit like 'Hidden Talent', which was on recently. He had to fake it as a modern artist and had about a month to prepare. I remember his paintings were based on his own illness, as a child. Apparently he's an actual artist now. _________________ "We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiatic about."
