I've been having quite a bit of trouble with those around me lately due to my rationale dependency. I always need to know why someone says or does they things they say or do, or why certain rules or things are the way they are. I always need more of an explanation, in order to make sense of these things in my mind. The problem is, those around me think I'm just being argumentative and that I should know what they mean or why things are a certain way, when in fact, I genuinely don't. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you ask questions about someone's motives without seeming argumentative?

That's a real knot of a problem. Generally, questioning someone's motivation is questioning their honesty and most folks, especially ones holding authority, don't much care for that.

Some people get away with it by acting stupid when they make inquiries, but that kind of acting ability strikes me as worse than simply getting a hassle going.

Kind of annoying when someone comes along and questions motives when you're (<--- figuratively) trying to be dishonest Laughing

Maybe motive was the wrong word to use...I just meant how do you further question what people mean by certain things they say or instructions they give without seeming argumentative. Embarassed
