Saw this on the general board, and thought some parents might be interested, too. I would've really liked to have had this when DS was first diagnosed. I really like that they have descriptions available of what constitutes "mild", "moderate", etc. I wish more rating scales would do this.

I just found this test that attempts to identify your severity level with "PDD" (doesn't specify between autism, aspergers, etc).

Just a note before you take the test though: the first thing gives a link to a pop up for "how to rate"--you should use this for every question because what YOU think is severe or mild might NOT be severe or mild! :) It will tell you exactly what it means for every question. I would have put severe for most of my answers had I not followed the guide for each question (and sometimes I would have put mild when I should have put moderate). Anyway, I did it accurately with the guide.

I just retook this test in light of some new information I got today from my Mom. My original score was: 159. Now it is 170, which suggests Severe PDD.

Here's the link to the descriptions:

DS6 scored 73 overall.

Out of curiosity, I calculated his subscores to be:
Social: 35
Speech & Language: 13
Play/Repetitive Behaviors: 13 (almost all points came from play and food issues)
Behavioral Difficulties: 12 (not sure if this is supposed to be its own subscore or part of RRBI)

This fits with my gut feel -- I wonder if he might be reclassified as having Social Communication Disorder when the DSM-V comes out...

Very interesting. I took it out of curiosity and my 3yo scored 70. Most of it are from language. The problem though is they don't rate his poor executive fuctioning (though he has been improving witht that) or his poor impulse control (wanting to wander off).

Thanks, it was interesting. DS11 - 79 Mild PDD.

You are right about the descriptors. I rated it once just rushing through, and went back and clicked on each of the descriptors as I rated. I changed a lot of scores.

Oh, I saw that and put in my own answers I suppose it would have made a lot more sense to answer it for my son. :D My own score was 67, my son's was 101. But it did miss some points by the way the questions were worded, like someone else said; my son doesn't get anxiety but he runs off in public places, he lacks fear. When it comes to the routine question I have the exact opposite problem and can't get him to adhere to any sort of schedule and he doesn't talk well enough to have some of the other problems that were listed.

Son, 5, got 90. Mild PDD. He's been diagnosed Aspie, but this form didn't ask many social situation questions, which is what pushes him over to Aspie. His social skills are atrocious. Of course, he's only 5 years old, but . . . definitely has social issues in addition to the sensory processing/behavior stuff.

My daughter got 60 Mild PDD, but it was me marking the behaviors on a good day, where things seem mild. I am sure the results can be subjective depending how I feel and the therapists, I'm sure, see things different.

I scored 85 - mild PDD.

A few were hard to answer about myself, though.

DS scored 88 (Mild PDD), although as I was doing the test for him this is a bit of a stab in the dark.
But for the sake of early intervention therapy funding, he most definitely has Aspergers Syndrome.

My son got 120 Moderate PDD
Of course moving the "resolved issues" to "no" changed the score to 103

I would say that dependent on the people filling in the assessment you could get all kinds of answers.
The more people who give responses on the child or person in question may provide a better more accurate picture (take the scores and average them).

I would suspect, in school my sons scores would be different than at home.
Likewise, his uncle thinks he is a deviant little monster and his score would turn out to be far worse.

Subjective testing at best....

I scored a 102 answering mostly about myself now and a little of how I know I was as a child. Even with a lot of resolved issues I was still over 100.

My daughter was diagnosed with severe Autism, five years ago. I went ahead and took the test anyway and she scored as severe PDD so I guess thats why they gave her the Classic Autism diagnosis but she has regressed a lot in the past year due to my illnesses and the stress of the public school. We are so excited that she will be going to the Autism class in the specialized school next year. My son, who has Aspergers, had a lot of problems in this public school as well with bullying, and them not being able to teach him, LOVES the school. They wanted my daughter because she has little savant type skills and learns easily and quickly, so they talked me into it, but sadly it was at the cost of her anxiety and her well being and her few social skills she had are gone.

She is so much happier at home. They have had a tummy issue the past two days so Im going to keep them home again tomorrow. Cant wait until the beginning of next month when school gets out. My husband signed the papers for my daughter to start school where my son is going next year. We cant wait!....so she will be like him, therapy half the day and school the other half aside from Thursday.
