I wasn't wild about Mac System 7.

Windows 3.11 "Windows For Workgroups" bothered me but only in that it was Win3.1 with some lacquer slapped on it and sold to the business crowd who were, as usual, too stupid to know the difference.

WinME I didn't have any major problems with (in that it wasn't any more spectacularly craptastic than any of their other stuff)

the one i had was on a laptop that had 128 mb RAM and (i forgot the hdd size) it was using celeron.

that thing lasted about 4 years it got slower and slower with all that I have done to maintain it. i also had AOL 9.0 se security edition with mcaffee antivirus on it as well.

AOL+mcaffee+windows ME=disaster

bjmax31, the poll, is it suppose to have windows me in both options???

Your equation needs to be simplified.

windows me = disaster

All windows ME was was 98 but with a few extra features I think (System restore and some other stuff) I found Windows 98 SE quite nice to use.

Also I hear that mcafee isn't all that good for antivirus, although it's what I have heard. If that's true that plus ME is not a good equation, ME edition has so many holes in.

I know gamers who play Windows games into Ubuntu by using Wine, it work fine with recent games too.

My framerate in Oblivion is choppy enough, I don't need to mix emulation in...
So XBOX 360 or PC... Well, I don't want XBOX 360, in favor of Wii, but Microsoft has me anyway with PC.

I totally agree. Windows Me == Worst piece of crap ever invented I think in the history of M$.
I've only had 1 experience with it and that was pre-installed on a new computer. After bootup it crashed on its first run and after that it would just randomly crash in its functions for absolutely no reason. I think if M$ had no logic at all in making the OS.

I never had the chance to use ME, instead upgrading from 98 to XP Professional last year.

Windows 3.1(1) is downright strange. Although the first computer I used had windows 3.11 - and thus that was the environment I first became accustomed to - in retrospect the program manager is very awkward.

I vaguely remember Windows 3.1 came with a tutorial on how to use the mouse. When I was five or six I thought it was a game and would do it over and over...

The only plus about Windows 3.1 was the WEP, which had a few simple yet addicting games. Chip's Challenge, Rodent's Revenge, JezzBall... the school that I spent 7th grade in recieved a windows 3.1 computer as a donation and the entire school of 15-or-so boys became a slave to the WEP... Even in the 21st century, they stood up as crude but timeless.

At the ISP tech support call center I work at, if the user answers "Windows ME" as their operating system, that instantly tells me something about their level of computer literacy (surely they would have gotten rid of WinME by now if they were truly computer savvy!) and the probability that the problem they are calling about is in some way connected to spyware/virus infestation.
