some girls wear a ring to avoid being approached?

Somehow I think that if they aren't wearing a ring, there are 3 possibilities.
1) Single
2) Isn't marrying or isn't in a serious relationship.
3) Hasn't been approached by his BF but enjoys time with him and wants him to marry her.
Though the order I put that in is to swap 1 and 3.

Can't answer your question, but I know at gyms, lots of personal trainers will not wear their rings even if they're married, just so if they get male clients, the male clients will be like "Oh boy, maybe I could like totally get with her, yeah!" Thus keep hiring them as a trainer for the 1% chance they'll be able to have sex with said trainer. Yeah...

Perhaps, though it only works if the person doesn't go to great lengths to analyze the ring in question Laughing

I sometimes wear a ring when I go out despite not being married because A: It disarms women a bit at first and B: for some reason I get hit on a lot more.

I've only ever heard of women doing that when they are travelling in countries where it would be unusual for women to be travelling alone. Men in such countries are apparently less likely to harass her if they believe she 'belongs' to someone. I've never heard of or seen a woman doing that in a Western country.

I think if someone is wearing a ring then it is inappropriate to approach them with a view to hooking up, but fine to be friendly. If someone is not wearing a ring then it is fine to approach them, if they are in a relationship they can simply say so.

I do. It doesn't help as much as you think it would.

Well for a start I wouldn't approach you so to be honest it can and does work on occasion... that or you obviously need a thicker ring so people will get the message.

Ring = more of a challenge. Well, not always but most of the time.

Women's fingers are pretty much the last thing I look at on them.

I used to have a promise ring ( I lost it Sad ) I don't think it made much of a difference when I had it, guys would still ask me out or attempt to talk to me in a mannor that was inappropriate
no one seemed to take care that I had a ring or that my relationship ment anything to me. I had a " friend " ( I put it that way because this guy had NO respect for me being with someone ) who would try to talk about sex all the time, generally I ignored it because in my view I'm one of the guys when it comes to that. I'm perverted as all hell but never do so in a flirting mannor. then one day he felt it was okay to slap me on the ass and after that I cut off the friendship apparently talking about my boyfriend all the time when I was around him wasnt enough of a hint, tho I just don't think he gave a f**k about me being dedicated to someone else and felt he could do as he pleased.

Some people just don't look as the person wearing a ring as a sign that the person is taken,
Tho so many people wear rings on their ring fingers, it could never hurt to ask.

Odd... Everyone has the complete opposite reaction to what my own reaction would genuinely be in that situation.
So really you'd be happy if they all reacted like me. Laughing

Only because the first thing you look at is breast size to make sure they have enough breast milk.

I think those types of people that are playing games about wanting a partner deserve to end up alone, I've talked to those types and they have regretted it because they pushed away all their chances when young and then as they get older nobody thinks their attractive and they become bitter and depressing and spew a bunch of negative sh!t everywhere they go and end up friendless and normally take their own lives, So it was there fault and that's the way they choose to live and normally end up religious >_> I say to them do what you want ^_^

I think that is very uncommon in America. Lots of women here where rings simply because they like wearing jewelry & it has nothing to do with them being married. Also it's not uncommon for women who are married not to wear rings for various reasons.
