The only sport I actually enjoy, probably because one of my older aspie obsessions were knights and medieval stuff, so the swordfighting goes along well. Plus, the combat techniques we use were actually used in military before firearms were invented, apparently.
I had my first tournament a few weeks ago, it was good. According to my instructor, I was phenomenal because at my level of experience (three months at the time of the tournament) I shouldn't have gotten any points against any of the other fencers, but I got points.
Apparently one of the girls I fenced in the tournament had aspergers, my mom talked to her and mentioned my disorder and then she said she had it and explained it a little bit. She didn't want to tell people because she was afraid she'd be treated differently or something. I tell everyone so that people can work with me better... hehe.
Also, I did a fencing camp a few weeks ago (9am - 4pm every day, it was about 2 miles away from my house) and I beat a guy (in épée) who had been fencing for 5 years. He beat me the second time, though lol. So now I've been doing it about 4 or 5 months.
Anyone else here who fences? |

I've always wanted to learn, but never did. My interest though is because I'm a huge Highlander fan. _________________ Frances

I would love to test my skill in battle but with someone like me with no training, I've never seen it around the city or area, It's a hobby and i don't know if you can money doing it and firearms are way more superior then any weapons |

| I used to fence in France when I lived there for some time. Enjoyed it, and I did quite ok I guess (and I can confirm that being left-handed is an advantage in this sport). |

When I fought left-handed people it's usually been my advantage since their flank was on the same side was me when facing each other. |

I used to fence as part of modern pentathlon (epée, single touch), and I have done a fair bit of theatrical fencing as well. _________________ --James |
