Hi, my name is NativeBear, but you can also call me Jerry. I do theatre as an occuppation and I work as a youth leader for hispanic youth. I love the outdoors and live in a cozy cabin in the redwood forest of Santa Cruz, CA. One of my dreams is to go to Japan to design games, dance and write novels.
One of the ways that I cope with having Aspergers, self diagnosed, is by saying as by living in nature. Ever hear of something called "nature-deficit-disorder"?
I really think connecting with peers that can share something as unique as our condition is essential. I believe there is a future in which the world will unanimously accept the different kinds of minds there are and give us the space we need to make our contributions to society. Cheers. |

| no, ive never heard of nature deficit disorder. it sounds as though it stands to reason though. thank you for your post regarding my introduction. self diagnosis you say. i have recently purchased some books to engage in some interventions to see if my condition improves. i suppose i am working on the treatment side instead of the diagnosis side. are the woods helpful for you? |

Absolutely. I like focusing my mind on details, and the forest is a place full of detail. It reminds me that I´m still an animal that has senses, and mine are just simply geared towards noticing things that the neurotypical mind can usually miss or not pay any importance to. I also live nextdoor to a buddhist shrine and have taken up meditation as a powerful coping device. |
