A lot of pro neurodiversity austistics and aspies find the jigsaw piece symbol offensive because it implies we are 'incomplete' or 'broken'.

How do you feel about it?

Interesting. I consider those on the spectrum as being different. With that in mind, what would a symbol for being different look like? An outline of a man but in an unusual colour, like purple or plaid? I'm not sure what the jigsaw puzzle piece means. Really, we're square pegs trying to fit into a round hole. Maybe that should be our symbol.

Well, aspies for freedom use the infinity symbol, because the concept of infinity is hard to understand, as many NT's find us hard to understand.

I never did like the puzzle piece. I feel complete and I'm not a jigsaw, I'm a person. I think an orange A would be a much better symbol than that stupid blue puzzle piece.

For heaven's sake, there are more important things to be offended by than the jigsaw symbol that represents autism. It's almost as if you're looking for things to be offended by.

I find the Jigsaw symbol offensive. I am a person. I don't have jigsaw puzzle pieces cut out of my face, because I am a person, and not a puzzle piece.

I don't like how objectifying it is, and NT-centric. That is to say: if we're puzzles to NTs, should that define us? Are we defined by their failure to understand us? Nope.

This, exactly,

"Figuring out that which is a mystery" can only mean one of two things:

A. Attempting to understand us

B. Attempting to solve (get rid of) a problem (us).

Given that Neurotypicals fail to understand us, the answer is clear...

I agree with Nonperson. Although not everybody can solve puzzles, only the skilled ones ;)

The only thing about the jigsaw piece that I find accurate is that usually no piece is identical to the other. What I think when I see a jigsaw piece is somebody who thrives to fit into society (as opposed as society trying to include them).

But then again, Down syndrome's symbol is an abnormal foot, i think for some reason symbols are adopted from a NT-centric perspective.

No, I don't find it offensive, but I do find it unattractive.
