Some multiplayer card (like yahoo) or word games (like scribble at snoot.com) would be nice, there's a chat line usually so you can get to know people while playing.

That would be good for if you're waiting for some new posts to show up at the forums or something, but I think that would be a lot of work for alex and/or Nuttdan to do. After all, if you scroll the page all the way down, you'll see a "© 2001."
