I'm more active on meetup.com since I get notifications there, so if you're interested in hanging out, I recommend joining. It's free, and membership growth encourages other aspies/NTs to join! :)

Or if you're too lazy, or have other questions you'd rather ask here, feel free to post in this thread. :) You can also PM me as well.

Here is our "About us" statement:

Quote:
We welcome both aspies (people with Asperger's Syndrome) and neurotypicals ("normal" people)!

Got Asperger's Syndrome? Want to socialize and experience life to its fullest, but don't know how? Well, you're in luck, because we're a group of other aspies with similar goals! Here, you can socialize in a safe, non-judgmental environment, but more importantly, you can be yourself. We're aspies, so we understand the way we think and feel. Interested in practicing social skills? Cool! Interested in sharing your interests? Cool! Interested in making new friends who "get you?" Cool!

The main purpose of this group is to support each other's goals and personal growth. This will be accomplished primarily through group activities. We may have dinner, hang out at the beach, hike, go to the bar, zip line, or even sky dive. The sky's the limit when we have like-minded people! Some people want to take it slower than others; some thirst adventure. Whatever your pace, we will not pressure you, and you are welcome to participate at your own pace.

Our belief is that one of the best ways to overcome social anxiety and to develop social skills is continuous exposure to social situations. The more diverse and challenging, the greater our skills, confidence, and character can grow.

-------------------------------------

If you don't have Asperger's Syndrome, we would still love for you to join! We would value your insight and advice on how we can better our social and conversational skills.

If you're looking for a free resource on social skills, I can recommend this website:

The author is an aspie who has turned his weakness into a strength, and has shared with other aspies how to deveop social skills. I am not in any way affiliated with the website.
