I hate Christmas so much. I don't have money to buy presents. I don't know people well enough to know what they'd like to get. Family doesn't know me well enough to know what I want to they command me to make a list that I don't even have the right to make because I will not be buying anything for anyone for Christmas. I wish I did not have to participate but I live and home to it's kind of mandatory because if I don't participate then I'll have a guilt breakdown. I have already had about 3 breakdowns since Thanksgiving. Of course they were all private so no one knows. Except for last night I started crying in the car. I had to be taken home because I couldn't go to the family gathering like that. Christmas makes me feel like life is just a series of boxes to be checked off with a fake smile on my face. I hate Christmas, I hate Christmas. Why do people act like Christmas makes everything better/different? It really doesn't. Did I say it already? I hate Christmas.

No I do not dislike Christmas and in fact in my younger days loved it.

Yes it is way over commercialized and crazy to shop this time of year. So happy I did some shopping early and my goal next year is to get all my holiday shopping done before Thanksgiving and avoid the rush and unbearableness (is this a word?) of holiday shopping. 8)

i love christmas, young enough for no one to worry about receiving presents from me and still young enough to receive a bunch of presents, its a joy to be around family, even if i have trouble talking to them.

I don't really "hate" Christmas.
I just don't get really excited about it.

About the only things I actually dislike about the holiday is the music, busy airports & that dang bell the salvation army people ring outside of stores.

I do think it's kinda silly how it's presented as "the birthday of Jesus" when really it's just a re-packaging of a pagan winter solstice celebration.

I've heard it said many times that Jesus might actually have been born sometime in July.

The lights are really cool though. I think people should have decorative lights up year round, maybe change out color themes seasonally.

I don't like Christmas Day at all and I think it's because as a child, you learn to get so worked up and excited about all the presents that once it's over and everything's been opened, there's an emotional crash that leaves you disappointed that it's all over.

Then once you become an adult, there's just the guilt and the pressure and when it's over, you're still disappointed. I think the guilt and pressure of feeling you're responsible for making other people happy, when you can't even make yourself happy, is a lot of the reason for so much suicidal depression during the holidays.

I think the whole season would be much more enjoyable if the gift-giving part was eliminated altogether, or limited only to children 12 and under.

I'm always too poor to be buying a lot of gifts and other people never bother to know me well enough to know what I'd like, so anything they give me makes me uncomfortable because I can't reciprocate and it always seems like an afterthought. Just make sausage balls and fudge, I don't need a present.

However, I do very much like the holiday celebrating tradition, with it's eggnog and yule trees and classic Christmas Music. :santa: :rendeer:

I like Christmas, particularly Christmas movies and dressing up in a santa hat and tinsel.

I hand out ear plugs for when I break out into singing Christmas carols.

I dont hate it, but I avoid it to keep myself Spiritually clean.

Even the Churches acknowledge it was the Birthday of the Sun and a Pagan festival, but they claim they have sanctified it.

I wonder what God thinks about such sanctification's when he tells us the following:-

The People Are Defiled

10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 11 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Now, ask the priests concerning the law, saying, 12 “If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?”’”

Then the priests answered and said, “No.”

13 And Haggai said, “If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?”

So the priests answered and said, “It shall be unclean.”

14 Then Haggai answered and said, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,’ says the Lord, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

What the above means is that if something clean touches something dirty, the dirty thing doesnt become clean, rather, the clean thing becomes dirty. thus all your good Christian works become unacceptable to the Lord if you defile them with Satanism.

Don't like Christmas very much. The holidays are a major disruption of my routine, and I have to interact with lots of people in large groups which makes me uncomfortable, and I dread even going to the grocery because it is crowded and the music is too loud. I hate that shops start playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving. And I don't like that everyone is expected to be happy, even though I am reminded how broke I am every time my son says "I want x, y, and z for Christmas" or someone else gives me a gift and I can't afford to reciprocate.

If Christmas were only about putting up nice greenery, and making a pie, and playing your own music, and relaxing at home with your family in front of a nice warm fire, it and I would get along better with one another.

I don't necessarily hate it, but I don't necessarily love it either. It's a hassle to make plans, get gifts together, deal with family politics, etc. I think it would be more enjoyable if everybody was like "screw the gifts, let's just get wasted". :P

I hate Christmas for the same reason as the original post. My mom gets mad when I get her gift cards but most of my gifts are pretty much wasted. This year I'm being given a reprieve since I'm in the middle of moving out. Her gift will be my first month's rent. :)

I like xmas but I hate opening presents in front of everyone.. I'm so worried that I won't have the proper reaction and/or seem uninterested in the gift.

The only thing I don't like about Christmas is the family Christmas party, and even then I have the choice not to go. I usually don't go, as crowds aren't my thing.

Personally, I can't think of anything else about Christmas I don't like. :)

I cant stand christmas. I just find that people feel obligated to spread what is euphemistically called "cheer" but is a highly infectious form of ebola transmitted through jingles and seasonal adverts/displays.
