The reality is that the US during WW2 used many "socialist" policy, which allowed a great prosperity. (Ironically enough, corporations greatly profited from this prosperity.) Well, at least what many would consider socialism.

The U.S. has a lot more "socialist policies" now, then we had back then.

We overspent and print by 1.5-2.5 trillion dollars per year and yeah many are prospering off the growing debt.

We need the world to loan us more, and more money, to keep our socialists dreams alive !

I would not say WWII was a prosperous time. Post WWII yes, since there was a huge slash in government , followed by a slash in taxes under Kennedy. In addition, the Eisenhower administration was careful with the budget, which did not drag down the economy, and add to that no one was strong enough to compete with America, and there is why America excelled from 46-late 60's .

Yeah thats right bailing out private banks and corporations, waging imperialist wars, is so reminiscent of socialism

During WW2 there was no problem finding work. There was rationing however so the prosperity was somewhat bounded by the good allowed to be available by the government. But work was absolutely no problem. If one wasn't drafted and could work he would not have a problem getting a job. Everyone not in uniform and not a youngster was very likely busy at a job.

This is like reading "Talking Points Madlibs" with "Socialism" written in all the blanks.

I would for America since the lend lease terms destabilised the £ and you got a bunch of free tech in return as well as the money repaid in full..

in the long run ww2 only boosted the USA into being a world super power

Get real and be rational! Stop parroting fox news.

There's no socialism in america. The only countries in the world which you could call socialist are the nordic countries, and probably Austria. Even though rethorically that's somewhat correct, technically they are social democrats _ to the right of socialism.

So stop parroting nonsense. Some of you guys die in the street if you don't have health insurance. Your pre college education is decadent. You get a debt for your college degrees that you'll take forever to pay. Unions are seen as pariahs. People who eat out of food stamps are shamed, accused of eating gourmet seafood, while some giant corporations/individuals pay next to no taxes _ and some even receive money from the IRS and are praised for taking advantage of the law. You have no sense of community. It's each for himself and screw the rest.

So read more and grow up. Stop with this ridiculous nonsense.

Came across this article while having my morning coffee:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-04-10/u-s-posts-smallest-march-federal-budget-deficit-since-2000.html

Quote:
Today’s Treasury report showed revenue increased 16 percent to $215.8 billion last month from $186 billion in March 2013. Spending totaled $252.7 billion, down 13.6 percent from $292.5 billion a year ago, today’s report showed.

Quote:
the world’s largest economy cut the deficit last fiscal year by more than a half since 2009.
