I don't know whether you would particually call it a special interest or a way of coping but my pets mean so much to me. Just wondering what pets people have and how they help them etc. Or just anything you want to say about youtr I would love to have more parrots and pets but I live with my parents :(

I have 2 Russian Dawarf Hamsters Cornelius Fudge and Augustus Gloop. I have had these for about a year. I had a hamster I rescued before called chips and I was so close to her I really was devasted when she had to be put to sleep. I don't feel close to these hamsters like I did her she was special and helped me through some of my hardest times.

Brie we got on my 20th birthday she is a rescue cavalier king charles they said she was 7 but I think she is younger. I feel very close to her because I have had to teach her everything. She was a puppy Farm girl and had never seen daylight before, so I have had to teach her walking on a lead. Just going outside on the grass was overwhlming for her so that has been amazing to teach her and watch her confidence grow.

Mazey who I have had since she was a puppy she was brought for what was thought was my "Social Anxiety" and because mum felt sorry for me because I had no friends LOL. She is 9 now so has been with me through EVERYTHING so she is obviously very special.

Gordon Bennett is my Quaker Parrot and he is a year I got him in June last year and he was roughly 3 months then. I love Gordon Bennett he is so funny to watch and play with HAHA. I have trained him to bring things to me like a dog turn around and wave etc lol. I love him and he is really cuddly I love spending time with him.

So what pets do you have?

I like wild animals. The rabbits that eat my squash flowers. The squirrels that steal my sunflowers. The humming birds that come to the feeder. The deer. Last year there was a bear I had to stop for in the road. He was running, and I was driving behind him. He was running at 32mph. Super cool. I watched a woodpecker for about 10 minutes the other day, eating beetles in the ground next to an ash tree. Sometimes I can get chipmunks to take peanuts out of my hand. Feed the blue herons the perch I catch. Tease the sea gulls with french fries. I can watch eagles all day. There is a porcupine that almost always stays in the same spots. They have the cutest faces. An island full of turkey vultures. They congregate there, and wait for the wind to carry them away. The list goes on and on. I really don't want anything in my house. Too invasive I guess. Don't like the hair.

My cats growing up were my very best friends. They have long passed but I still talk to them as intimately as I did when they were with me. Just because they are out of body does not mean that they cannot hear me in spirit and still be close to me.

When I was a kid I lived on a horse farm one summer. My horse was my buddy and since I was not able to make real friendships with the other kids I spent a lot of time bonding with my horse. I also had gerbils and fish and rabbits when I was growing up that I loved very dearly. I would have a cat again if I could afford it but now I am happy to have my brother's cat in my life. He is really awesome. And now I have horses in my life too, not my own, thank goodness, since they are extremely expensive to keep, but I love it because I can treat them, love them and spoil them as if they were mine without any of the expenses or responsibilities. That is the best deal! :D

Funky93, Please post pics of your pets if you can and are willing. They sound wonderful.

I love my dog and tbh I would probably be a miserable wreck without her. I feel like I can say anything to her, and she just quietly listens without being judgmental. Animals aren't deceptive or hard to understand, they don't try to exploit or take advantage of you, unlike so many humans.

If you look at the bar on top when you post, the blue bar right above the white square where you write your post, you will see a picture of a square with a mountain and an orange circle. I believe that is what you click on to add a photo. I have not been able to do it because of the intricate security set up on my computer. But if you click on that icon it should tell you how to insert a photo into your post. It will most likely have a button that allows you to search for pictures on your computer so you may need to download some or scan some in if you don't have any on your computer. Or if you have some pictures on a thumb drive you can plug that into your USB port and take the pictures directly from there or sometimes even directly off of your camera. I would take pics with my phone, email them to myself from my phone and then download them on to my computer from my email. Hopefully this will help you. If you are not as savvy on a the computer it could be confusing but we can certainly walk you through it if you need more help.

I love all animals. I used to be docent at the zoo and many years ago helped my mother foster animals for the humane society. I still go to the zoo frequently and I'm the crazy person you will catch communing with the cougars, trying to be Dr. Doolittle.

However, I only have cats as pets. I have had as many as 9 rescue cats, but have had to reduce the number to four due to self-care issues and nasty neighbors. I find the purring and cuddly nature of cats soothing. They also provide the need to love and be loved unconditionally.

I have a Balinese cat and a Manchester Terrier. I love the cat and think it is the best one I've ever had. The dog is my sister's but I still interact with it a lot, I'm still getting use to it as I wasn't raised around dogs but I think this one was abused so it seems scared a lot. I wish went to the bathroom better instead of the house so much but it seems like it has been a little better lately, still gotta careful to keep my door closed while I'm not in the room. I use to have a large 55 gallon fish tank that I enjoyed, if I had money I'd probably get another one and maybe a reptile or something since it has always been a dream of mine to have one.
