A list of politicians that seem to be behind the times on the rights of those who have a different sexual orientation. Most are Republican. They should all be nominated for the Hall of Shame.

You would think that these people would be ashamed of being exposed as being so intolerant but unfortunately they take pride in taking such an ignorant stand. It goes to show that intelligence is not a prequisite to holding public office.

I'd be happy for my politicians to be "narrow-minded" if they could just be narrowly devoted to the Constitution. Unfortunately, I doubt that most of them have even read it.

Or that most of them have read it, but could care less about the Constitution.

Obviously the Constitution, or many parts of it, can be interpreted many ways. You have a President who graduated from Harvard and has taught Constitutional Law. I don' care that people don't agree with him, but this constant roar that he knows nothing about the Constitution is ridiculous. Give the man credit for his accomplishments and stop denigrating him. There are many parts of the Constitution that are debatable as far as intent and meaning, that is true, but this constant cry from people that no one has ever read the Constitution other than yourself is just childish. I did not vote for Obama and I don't agree with a lot of what he and other Presidents have done, but all of these lies and disrespect is just getting to the point of being beyond ludicrous. Why cannot people disagree like mature adults and stop with these ridiculous assertions.

The people who attack the President's credentials as a constitutional law instructor really don't have a sound understanding of the constitution to begin with.

There are a few small gray areas, but on the whole, considering it was drawn up by a committee of lawyers, the Constitution is written in remarkably clear language.

Why, who said anything about Obama?

Expect to have that quoted back at you whenever you criticize politicians in the future.

Since Watergate I don't know why anybody would feel any particular respect for any modern politician. I see no evidence that politicians as a tribe are endowed with superior intelligence, education, moral standards, or anything else that would qualify them to manage other people's lives. Quite the opposite.

Everybody slips sometimes, but a ready reliance on ad hominems is a sure sign that one lacks a rational argument.

What lies?

And your political posts are noted for a strict nonpartisanship and a deep respect for those with whom you disagree? Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

So people were actually arrested for "sodomy laws"! !! In what way is this different from what has happened in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Uganda? The USA should not try to join this list. Good thing most parts of the US hold a very different view.
And police officers actually lured the gay people into it, they trapped them... why are they not after real criminals?

The office, not the occupant.

Lawyers write in clear language? That is a first. The legal professions are based on people not understanding the language so they need to hire someone who does when they get in legal trouble. The average citizen is completely unable to understand the law books and what is written in them.
[ rant]Since most politicians studied law as well, this is not likely to change. They also have an unfounded belief in the rule of law, even international law (they still can't believe an old KGB chief outmanouvered them all). We need Churchills, Eisenhowers, Thatchers and Meirs who know about realpolitik.[ /rant]

I second this, but they certainly have no respect for the office of the House Speaker and the office of the Senate Majority Leader when it's not one of theirs occupying it either.
