New York Times

Mr. Bundy has been championed by some Fox News commentators, though there were signs that they were distancing themselves after his remarks were published.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy?”

I can't believe someone would think this still.

I haven't been paying any attention to that whole thing.

I wonder how Hannity on Fox, who has been going beyond the role of reporter, and has taken up the role of instigator in this whole situation, is going to explain the hateful words used by his hero?

This country is full of people who think like that, and speak like that, mostly behind closed doors or hidden behind a computer screen. Racial hatred is still rampant here.

Hannity will either ignore those words or he will try to say it is misunderstood propaganda.

Wouldn't surprise me.

And now, as you can see, Mr Bundy is scrambling in front of any camera that is still willing to point at him, denying he made those comments, even though he was caught on camera saying exactly those words. Now, of course, he was "misunderstood" and he wants to rephrase himself, somewhat like Paula Dean did.

I'm guessing he is just angry that the government wanted to take his cattle for no logical reason and he did nothing wrong. I would be too if that happened to me.

He was letting his cattle graze on land he didn't own. Apparently the rules don't matter if you're a "good 'ole boy."

I think Her Bundy has a lot of people bamboozled for any number of reasons, one of which being if he is such a big time rancher riding around all his life on his horse herding his cattle how did he amass that protruding gut? I think he is mostly a guy who sits on his butt in his 22 year old lazy boy watching Fox News 9 hours a day while other people do his physical labor for him. I don't begrudge or disrespect his accomplishments, I only question this image he is trying to portray of himself. Plus he is a criminal Just because he does not recognize the Federal Government does not mean the federal government does not exist.

Could be glandular.

What I didn't like about Bundy at first was he was a tax evader. I have lived in that region but do not understand all the details of public land management. I do know if I failed to pay taxes that bad things would happen to me. So what makes him different? His saying they have been on the land for such and such a time justifying it, somehow making it his, seemed nonsense. Is he opting out of parts of being a US citizen ? Should ambulences not respond to 911 calls from his property? Should public utilities be shut off ?

Now however, I see from his comments, he is a very ignorant man. Surprizingly so, and not too much surprises me. One thing I did notice out there was that some desert dwellers had strange views on things. I truly wondered if they had been out in the sun just a bit too long, for the sun is relentless there most of the year round. But it probably is mainly the isolation and them stewing in their own limited thoughts for too long.

Oh great, another nutjob getting martyrdom status. Just what we need.

And even worst, CNN has been covering this story ALL FREAKIN DAY. The network has really hit a new low with this.
