I am curious to see if there are any patterns in the answers to these two "most and least" questions.

My answers are:

Most: Clonazepam (Klonopin)
Least: Prozac

Clonazepam zapped my anxiety, restored good mood and motivation, improved sleep, focus and energy.
Prozac turned me into a flat mood, depressed, apathetic zombie.

Most:
It's relative. My very first prescription ever was Rohypnol 2mg for sleeping trouble. It got blacklisted 3 months later and the alternative must have been useless as it led me to explore the street supplies of Rohypnol. Diazepam used to chill me out but was on 90mg/day and when I asked the shrink to up my prescription he told me it would be unethical. Now it gives me headaches.
Least:
Seroxat made me cut even though I had long past my teenage years by then.

Most:

If we're talking psychotropic medications, NONE.

If we're talking metabolic medications, Levemir and Novolin-R

If we're talking allergies, Astepro and Mucinex, along with salt water.

If we're talking cholesterol meds, niacin and fish oil supplements.

Least:

Any psychotropic medication

Actos

Avandia

Precose

Claritin

Zyrtec

Allegra

Any and all statins.

Ditto your citation of statins - excruciating muscle pains in my legs, and muscles in my biceps wasted away very quickly, and mood dived into one of the bleakest darkest depressions of my life - which lifted instantly when I threw the statins away. Yes, statins nearly killed me. The brain needs cholesterol to function optimally - brain tissues rebuilds itself using cholesterol as a vital fat in that process.

I have never experienced benefical effects from western pharmaceuticals. I know of no better remedy for depression than good tea, coffee, vegetables & melatonin. Cannabis is the only medication I have ever been 'prescribed' although in my state, it's officially for social anxiety & pain relief. Too many stories like these keep me away from nearly anything in a pill.

Benzodiazepines weaken the central coherence, who is already weak in autistic ppl. and also cause a heighten risk towards epilepsy in this combination.
I once was on an ASD conference and the expert there stated that individuals with autism should never be given benzodiazepines. The risks out way the benefits and there are a whole bunch of others meds. or possibilities than can be tried.

Was that Uta Frith?

The most debilitating aspect of ASD for me was overwhelming anxiety. Clonazepam simply removes it. I haven't had any cognitive or cerebral processing disruption from it. My thinking is clearer and far more focused with it. NOTHING else that was prescribed was helpful for me.

No, it was a German autism expert Ludger Tebartz-van Elst. But I highly suspect that also others researched into it. I personally wouldn't take any benzodiazepines. I also think that when there are slight changes in the brain, you wouldn't notice them until they are severe enough to cause major harm. Also so far I'm informed benzos can make addicted. But it's still a personal choice, of course. I would rather go with an antidepressant if you want to take psychiatric drugs, those also can cause side effects, but are more safe. Best is also to try therapy.

Most:

Amoxicillin
Sudafed original (never the same once they took out the pseudoephedrine . It'd clear up your sinuses and stop you feeling like a half-dead slug.)

Least:

Luvox (Got every side effect listed, and then some.)
Lexapro ( gave me energy, helped a bit, also gave me tinnutus and uncontrollable twitches and muscle contractions.)
Mirtazapine ( Turned me into an angry zombie, muscle cramps, joint pain, weight gain, apathy, loss of cognitive function[imo]- you can't solve life's problems when you can't think straight- overwhelming lethagy.)

Not a fan of psycho drugs.

Trazodone helps me sleep to put it lightly, to be more accurate it knocks me the f*** out if I can't sleep, so great for when I haven't been getting enough sleep and cannot go to sleep on my own. Then valium helps some with my anxiety, not entirely sure I have the exact right dosage though, my anxiety has been sort of suppressed lately(sometimes that happens with my PTSD numbness that I experience at times, when I am like that the anxiety almost seems non-existant)...so its hard to tell. Last I talked to my psychiatrist she raised it to being able to take 10mg rather than 5mg for more severe anxiety attacks since I had one the 5mg didn't help but haven't ran into an instance to put that to the test yet.

As for the worst ones...first of all klonopin, I will never touch another one of those, I ended up getting addicted to that crap(luckily for me it was only a couple months before I ended up in the psych ward and I was able to get off of it, I realize some people are addicted to things for years and years before they even realize they have a serious issue) but yeah that was unpleasant. And aside from that none of the other psych meds I have tried help, every anti-depressant I've had just makes me more anxious or causes other annoying side effects.

Most: Seroquel and Clomipramine.

Seroquel controls my Tics which were almost debilitating before I was medicated and it also helps me sleep.

Clomipramine controls my OCD and ruminations which can lead me to do some pretty stupid things and sabotage my life.

Seroquel also helps augment the effects of Clomipramine.

Least: Risperdal. It did the same thing as Seroquel but it made me extremely hungry. I never felt full and had to eat excessively to not be hungry. On top of that I was too young to know it was the medication doing it when I was on it. My parents knew but I didn't.

most; halperidol [think its called haldol in america :? ].
it has helped with autism in many ways ranging from severe challenging behavior to severe autistic related anxiety to eye contact to
greatly lowering arrousal system which has a knock on effect on other symptoms,to interaction etc.

cymbalta; an SNRI anti depressent,it gave life back, although have to be on higher than recommended max dose.

temazepam; extremely helps with severe autistic related anxiety and severe challenging behavior.

worst; diazepam;not as good as temazepam for self, am in the middle of a withdrawal program of it and have had the halperidol increased instead.
gabapentin;it gave a severe stroke effect with one entire side of body and face numb.
zopiclone; its a sht sedative, builds up tolerance extremely quickly.

Lot of comment in the media here lately about how zoplicone can wrecks your normal sleep cycles for a long time after you stop taking it. I hated it's taste and the groggy/befogged state it made me awake to. Not going there again!

Do find that magnesium combined with L-Theanine amino acid before bedtime gives me very refreshing sleep, better than any prescription sleeping drug I have ever used.

yeah seconding that, cant remember the taste as am on a handful of tablets in the morning and at night but can remember the sleep issues worser than ever after the hospital stopped the zopiclone script, aparently its what our local hospitals routinely prescribe to inpatients on all types of wards, melatonin is better in own view but then that eventualy builds up tolerance to just not anywhere near as quickly.

am on magnesium supplement but never tried it with L-T AA,thanks for that idea will ask the gp if he will prescribe am not allowed to have anything that doesnt have a gps signature on it.

Most used/helpful:

Cymbalta - has helped with the depression but not so much my pain other then less frequent migraines. It was hoped it would also help with my nerve problems (cervical and lumbar) but has not.

Xanax - Helps with my anxiety and does help with some of my severe headaches arising from my cervical problems. It at least knocks the pain level down enough that I don't go insane from. It aids in sleep as well but I only take as needed. Not a daily thing

flexeril - Mainly for my muscle spasms and pain associated with nerve problems in my back

Least helpful:

Paxil - Didn't help with my pain or depression levels, made me very suicidal

Ultram - Totally useless supposed pain med. Doctor prescribed along with Paxil and I went into serotonin syndrome thanks to this combo. Newer doc wanted me back on it along with Cymbalta but knowing it increases free serotonin and did nothing for my pain I politely declined.

I am also on meds for hypertension but I figure those are not related to this forum

Edit: Also melatonin as urged by my doctor. Worked well at first at 3mg, then stopped and went to 6mg. Again it stopped and now on 10mg time release. Hoping it goes the distance for awhile. I prefer this over the xanax!
