I wrote about it in my previous topic.
http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt259530.html

I was today at the election, while my mom boycotting the elections, as did all the other elections that take place in Poland, says that all politicians are liars and crooks.

I argued a bit with my my mom, because saying "that he who does not participate in the election, has no right to complain about the politicians :)"

And you, what do you think?

I hope so, I voted for the candidate of my province (Lower Silesia), their leader, Janusz Korwin-Mikke is very intelligent, and reportedly has Asperger's syndrome, but this is just a rumor.

Besides the New Right will come to Europarliament will be very fun. Besides, as he himself said that how to get Europarliament, it will not be there to f**k with nonsense as maximum curvature of a cucumber, but to blow up the mess.

He said that he depends solely on electoral threshold which in Poland is 5% in both the Sejm, the Senate and the Europarliament has crossed the threshold of the election, shall be entitled to subsidies from the state budget for the election campaign.

Korwin-Mike said that he's most concerned about this, so that he could organize campaigns election to the Sejm and the Senate, for which his party deserves more than any other party, as he claims.

During the past, the election of 1997 was introduced electoral threshold, never during national elections have never reached a required 5%, although generally not much missing.

Korwin Mikke says that this post-communist conspiracy.

But pre-election polls give them 5.5% of the win will have the money for the parliamentary elections in Poland, and on the future European elections :-)

I hope they win

UPDATE: electoral silence ended! exit polls suggest JKM New Right get 7.2% :D

Hurrah :D
My vote, however, was not wasted :D

Korwin-Mike got some nice ideas but he has no virtual chance to make them true. A country with small taxes but no social? Is it a country you would like to live in? You might do well if you are strong enough to care about yourself and your family and your job is sure thing but not everyone is like that. It just won't work out. There will be lots of homeless/poor people with no help from anyone. We are ages too early to count that people will put enough money in charitable trust and save money themselves in case they get sick one day. No matter how much money they have most people spend it all on a daily basic. They get more - they spend more. They got no savings habit.

Also. He is eurosceptical - so why does he want to be in the European Parliament? As far I know he would be most happy if Poland left EU and become independent from it. What is he planning to do?

He is also very rigid, intolerant and nasty. He always says what he thinks which might not be a bad thing itself but his opinions are very hurtful to some social groups. He seem to think womans are worse kind of human and should stay at home while only their husbands work (well, I understand what he mean by that - he wants to say that husbands should earn enough money so their wifes don't have to work but still the way he says it make him an official enemy of all feminists). He also considers homosexuals sick (and he openly says homosexuality is an illness). He is strongly against abortion and euthanasia and he doesn't support in-vitro. And well... most people don't like his tone of voice.

One word - he got lots of enemies and he makes new one all the time by his sharp tongue and rigid opinions.

I used to vote for him for some time and I appreciate his view on the country. He is one of the smartest politicians and he really HAS ideas. I like him, even if I strongly disagree with him in some fields (woman, homosexuals, euthanasia). But his personal opinions and the fact the people in our country are just not ready for the changes he offers convinced me not to vote for him this time. Especially since the new party - Polska Razem (Poland Together) - got created. They share very similar opinions on the country as New Right Wing (cut taxes, lessen social, changes in the jobs field) but they seem to have better plan how to make it true. They are also more tolerant about homosexuals, abortion and in vitro while still conservative. And they are eurorealists, not euroscepticals.

Anyway. I am somehow happy J.K-M party got so many %. Poland Together didn't pass (2,8% or so?) so I can count on New Right Wing since their pillars are the same. I believe other politics won't let New Right Wing make the changes too dangerous. I am just worried about J.K-M and his eurosceptical, intolerant and nasty self making a "show" and pissing off even more people.

Isn't Korwin-Mikke the guy who doesn't want women to vote?

Or did something get lost in translation?

Yup. That's him. Recently a lot of people repeat this phrase of his and it sounds just as bad in Polish as it does in this translation.

I believe it was cut out of a context (or more possibly - he was not able to clearly describe what he means by that so we all misunderstood him) but it still clearly shows what kind of human he is. He just speaks his mind out loud not caring about other peoples feelings and his own PR.

No, he just says that men should provide a decent life with your wife and children to their wives do not have to work. He has nothing against electoral rights of women, truth be told the results of exit-poll surveys indicate that among all Polish voters who voted for his party, about 25% are women 75% are men

Ah, I see, then... Could you perhaps translate into English what he precisely said in this interview about women and voting?

Now remember, I have no time to translate the entire interview.

But he is the counterparty to the right to vote for women, because they vote in most men, guided mostly by aesthetic rather than substantive. Korwin-Mikke told how once when he was a member of Sejm in early 90's, had the honor speak with Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain. Which he considered one of the best politicians in the world. He said she told him that she is opponent of the right to vote for women, she was elected prime minister, mostly male voices parts Tory leadership, she reportedly said that women are guided primarily by aesthetic considerations and are envious in relation to the success of other women. that men are less jealous of the successes of his colleagues

I translated the first 4,5min, when they speak about woman. If some phrases don't make sense it isn't my fault. This is really the way they hold the discussion. Especially J.K-M.

Host
Monika Olejnik, ?The dot over i?, welcome everyone. Today quests are Paweł Kowal ? Polska Razem (Poland Togehter) and Janusz Korwin Mikke ? Kongres Nowej Prawicy (KNP, New Right Wing Congress). Welcome in the studio.
Mister deputy, why is your party so afraid of KNP? You prepared the ads movies, you point out the bow tie, you say what bad can Janusz Korwin-Mikke do.

Kowal
Don?t exaggerate. Those ads videos are very subtle and they show where the border between us is. Nowadays the situation is that Janusz Korwin-Mikke has to be treated as someone who might play a huge role and we have to show there is a border between us. We don?t agree for such phrases about woman, treating woman like that.

Host
What kind of phrases you speak about?

Kowal
I can mark many examples.

Host
Please, do it.

Kowal
Are you sure?

Host
Yes, please.

Kowal
?When your wife is giving you an agreement because of bread, she probably doesn?t mind the bread but that you are neglecting her, especially on the sexual field. If the real reason for the agreement is the first statement is true it is recommended to <I can?t understand the word here because J.K-M is babbling in the background>. There are disagreements if raping your own wife is punishable.?

J.K-M
<while Kowal still speaks> But... But... Do you really... really... really... <Kowal stops speaking> Excuse me very much but is it an serious audition or is it a joke? I wanted... I thought I come to a serious program, where you speak about politics and not about woman. When there is a talk between man at a point woman become the topic and there can be even worse things said. But, in a serious...

Host
But excuse me. Woman in the politics are important...

J.K-M (apperently not listening)
... especially in a serious TV...

Host (continues)
...and you say woman shouldn?t have the right to vote.

J.K-M
Madam. I am a serious... But Madam. I am an admirer of <can?t understand> which is already dead. Thatcher is against the right of vote for woman. <Kowal bables ?No...?> Of course she was. I talked to her about that personally. <Kowal bables ?I'm begging you...?> Please stop dispute me...

Kowal:
What are you talking about? She was participating in all the elections, fighting for the votes...

J-K.M
But you are interrupting me. <Kowal: ?I just say how it is. I'm begging you.?> Excuse me but I said something... You won?t let me end. Thatcher was against the right of woman to vote. I am gonna tell you why. The reason is she was choosen by man direction of a conservative party. <Kowal: ?But...?> Mister! Please stop interrupting me! (he starts to lisp, it can be clearly heard)

Kowal:
Are you for or against the right of woman to vote?

J.K-M
Stop interrupting me.

Kowal:
We have 20 minutes. We won?t waste it for your interpretation of history. We have to say who is for the vote, who is against.

J.K-M
You stared the discussion about woman. I want to end it...

Host:
I have to join. Woman should have the right of vote or no?

J.K-M
Excuse me very much. Mr. Paweł started the discussion and I am going to end it...

Kowal
Are you for or against the right of woman to vote?

J.K-M
Please let me finish. I am a quest here, dear Madam Monika and you should respect that I am a quest here and let me finish... <Host: ?But...?>. You should watch over Mr. Kowal to let me finish.

Host
But I can watch over you too, right? <J.K-M bables> Good. Thanks.

J.K-M
So, dear Madam (while looking at Kowal :D). She was against it because... I mean, Madam Thatcher... if half of the voters there were woman she would never become a Prime Minister because woman vote for males. It is, like that. You got female teams of volleyball, basketball, football... have you seen just one team of females which had... <Kowal babbles>

Kowal
We are not talking about differences between man and woman. We are talking about our view to the the right of woman to vote.

J.K-M
God dammit. I am gonna say it again. Woman vote for man, thats why from the point of view of a woman...

Kowal
But that?s not what we are talking about.

J.K-M
That?s why from the point of view of a woman which wants to be in the politics it would be better if the woman couldn?t vote. And because I don?t care about woman being in the politics it is ok for me if they vote. I will tell you more...

Host
If, in your opinion woman are less intelligent than man <J.K-M babbles ?... of course?> then woman shouldn?t vote for you.

J.K-M
You are wrong because more woman than man vote for me (actually he is wrong here, his vote statistics are 75% man, 25% woman) because woman are treated like woman, not like a little worse men. Please understand it the right way. Woman excellently...

Kowal
If you write a book <J.K-M: ?Mister, God dammit...?>, where you advise young man to rape their wifes in case of family problems then excuse me. Why don?t I have a right to point it out? In my opinion I have the right.

J.K-M
Mister. If you knew a little about woman you would know that they always a little... <Kowal babbles: ?Please, stop joking.?> Excuse me, I am not joking. <Host: ?Dear Mister.?> Mister, you started the discussion, we are taking at the moment in the studio about the way how to deal with woman or we are talking about politics?

Host
Excuse me, mr. depute. Because you used to be a depute some time ag. Doy you think woman want to be raped? Dis I understood it right way?

J.K-M
It means... Raped... What does raped mean? Woman always pretend they resist and it is normal I quess. Isn?t it?

Host
What is a rape in your opinion?

J.K-M
I said it clearly. It is overcoming a ... Because you have to know when you are allowed to do it and when you are not. We will not speak about such subtle things in a politic program. God dammit. Did you...

Host
Fine. Our next topic is the Ukraine ...
