Did the 9/11 truth movement die or did it offload its excess baggage?

It's undeniable that the 9/11 truth movement is much quieter and less prominent than it was around 7 or 8 years ago, but the theory I have is that it attracted far too many people who were just curious inquirers or those who were of no use and credibility because they lacked any real knowledge or experience that could be used to reveal the truth and debunk the official story. I'm only interested in people being in the 9/11 truth movement if they have some useful knowledge to offer - like controlled demolition specialists; civil engineers; or airline pilots. Over the years the 'dead wood' in the movement has fallen away but critics of 9/11 truth have used this to create a misleading message that the 9/11 truth movement has died. I also think that intelligence services were behind certain sections of the 9/11 truth movement in order to create misinformation and decoys that would help to reduce credibility of genuine factions of the movement and destroy the trust by the public. My experience of 9/11 truth conventions and local meetups is that most are a complete waste of time and are probably detrimental to the cause. There was a local 9/11 truth group but I left after finding that none of its members had any useful knowledge or experience and just tended to believe sensationalist junk like Loose Change.

lol noam chomsky. He has said a few really smart things in his life but ultimately he just come across as an a-hole who loves the sound of his own voice.

The 9/11 truth movement did not die, it was successful and has morphed into something more useful. The entire point of the 9/11 truth movement was to wake americans up the reality of a criminal government that shouldnt be trusted. Tell me, do you think trust in government has gone up or down since 9/11?

The 9/11 truthers were called crazy anti government wack jobs who just didnt like the government. The movement came right before a damning series of political and governmental revelations that shattered the Americans public's view of their government. It primed people for what was to come. Since 9-11 we have had the IRS targeting groups for political reasons, Fast and Furious, NSA spying leaks, every government organization buying millions of rounds of ammunition that we cant explain or justify, more pointless wars that Americans dont understand or support...the list goes on and on and on.

9/11 was used to rally Americans around a false pretense for war. One thing that came out of the truther movement weather you believe it was an inside job or not is that the government absolutely exploited the death of Americans to gain political and economic favor for war. War in places with people who were not connected to the attacks. It was used to indite every Arab nation that the elite had an agenda in. Even if you detest the 9/11 truthers you might want to thank them, they persuaded a lot of Americans, even staunch republican Bushites to scrutinize the governments motivations for endless wars.

The 9/11 truth movement was ultimately a success in that it moved people to question their government.

Did you actually watch any of them?

While 911 false flag hypotheses have many proponents on the left, most of their most vocal proponents in the U.S appear to come from the right. From a cynical establishment right perspective, the 911 truth movement would have at least the following potential benefits:

-It helps convince the public that government is an enemy, and not something that is potentially of by and for the people. It benefits oligarchy if the public thinks that democratic control of government is impossible.

-It helps prevent questions being asked about what the grievances of the hijackers actually were, and helps prevent the public from examining the issue of blowback, thereby protecting the Military Industrial Complex from public outrage.

-It helps industry demonise government, in order to raise grass roots support for business de-regulation under the guise of fighting government tyranny.

-It helps recruit disaffected U.S citizens into the Republican fold, by use of prominent GOP truthers such as Ron Paul.

-It distracts the public from real issues.

America is constantly at war, and has seldom historically had much trouble finding ways to rally public support for those wars, at least in their initial stages. The conspiracy would be very foolish overkill considering they could just use propaganda and other means without leaving themselves open to the risk of the plot being uncovered and everyone involved being executed. It doesn't make sense that they would take those risks to get support for something they could just get support for another way.

Bullsh*t.

I did not watch the videos because I do not h ave time at the moment.

A few points. Ron Pauls supporters are generally more hard core informed people. All of them know that Ron Paul is a Republican in name only, no one who jumps on board with Paul is fan of the larger republican establishment. The idea that Paul is used to build a base for the republicans is utter crap that only an uninformed rube would believe. He has a well documented inverse effect to what you claim and the republicans hate him for it and it is why he was greatly marginalized by them. Paul incired a masive amount of blame for losing the last two elections because it was widly known that his supporters refused to vote for any other republican than him.

What other real issues might it have distracted from? Unneeded wars and permanent occupation of oil rich deserts are not a real issue? Secretive banker agendas in other countries dictating U.S. actions on a global scale? What other issues? Domestic government issues have been brought to light because of it.

I could go on with the other points but they are just to dumb, sorry.

It's up to individuals to work out what they think is important. I would hope that people harness their social justice instincts, should they have them, to pursue social justice outcomes in ways capable of bearing positive fruit. 911 truth is an interesting subject for what it tells us about U.S propaganda, but it's a complete black hole of wasted energy in terms of activism. It has failed to secure any convictions in 13 years, and its hypotheses as to motivation don't make sense.

I think the truther movement diminished with George W. Bush leaving office, the same way the birther crap will die when Obama's term ends. Neither movement can survive long without their political adversary and focus of hatred in office.

Are all but a handful of Americans too blinkered and angry to be able to see beyond the official story? Is there too much fear of ridicule to even question or dispute the official story?

I think that there is definitely much truth to this but could it also be viewed that the excess baggage and large numbers of low quality people were melting away whilst most of the serious players pressed ahead regardless? 9/11 truth was certainly a movement with a small signal to noise ratio. There were large numbers of noisy people with superficial knowledge and skills that could be used to find out the truth whilst serious players tended to be quite introverted and more interested in research rather than popularising the movement.

Yes, just like the crying and whining from the left about the war in Iraq petered out once George W left and their man stepped in. All the sudden the war wasn't so awful and the welfare of the troops not so critical. It's really all just a matter of which side of the bread the butter is on....

As I've addressed this particular charge previously - - it was commonly accepted among Obama's friends and enemies that he was planning to withdraw from the war. The answer is simple.

That's obviously government-planted propaganda, and you're dumb for questioning the pro-truther's logic (which they don't have time to watch or otherwise address).
