Not an expert on this genre. I always thought it was lame. I like this song a lot though.

It wasn't really 'lame' to me, it was a combination of musos just mucking around and having fun trying to incorporate theatrics into their acts...it was also just a huge send-up of rock and also, trying to establish an identity after the psychedelic era (in the early to mid '70's).

There were quite a few remaining remnants of that, as well as an emerging gay scene musically...and on that note:

I also like Suzi Quatro and David Bowie and kudos for remembering them. Well done.

T.Rex, one of seminal glam rock acts of the 20th century, commandeered by the creative genius Marc Bolan.

Moreover, in discussion of David Bowie, Marc Bolan contributed as a session guitarist to the original recording of "The Prettiest Star", which was released as a single in 1969, subsequently re-recorded in 1973 (featuring Mick Ronson on lead guitar) during the Aladdin Sane sessions.

There's no such thing as recommending one Bowie song, not even per person...
