ASD folks secular,liberal or just WP

are ASD people more likely to be liberal,secular
or is just selection bias that liberal,secular ASD'er
are more likely to join WP than conservative,religious
ASD'ers?

hard to tell , as this is the only contact I have with people with ASD other then myself. it does feel like people with asd seem to be ,more liberal.

but there is another option. that those who post more often are liberal. this could make it seem that most asd people are liberal.

It's the demographics of the internet as a whole, the net tends to skew liberal in general.

There are liberals, there are conservatives, there are feminists, there are misogynists all over WP.

WP, like Dox said, is a microcosm of the whole internet.

It's really a bad idea to generalize, unless you know you're generalizing. As long as you don't believe the generalizations apply to EVERYBODY.

I, myself, am somewhat of a liberal, though with a pragmatist bent.

I take it person by person myself.

This. The internet is generally younger and more urban than the West as a whole (as well as being more Western than the world). Religiosity, authoritarianism and conservatism are all associated with the elderly and rural regions, as well as developing nations.

There's plenty of conservatism, reactionary thought, etc on the internet.....PLENTY!

Don't let the supposed preponderance of liberal thought fool you.

Actually, I have noticed that there is a decent portion of libertarians like myself on WP and elsewhere, who are on the spectrum. The main thing I've noticed is that people on the spectrum tend to be socially liberal, and when it comes to fiscal and foreign issues it can be a toss up between either end.

Conservatives rejoice! If you want to be told you're great for being rich or white or male, or kick the s**t out of minorities, or scapegoat the poor while championing semi plausible excuses to funnel public funds to the rich, then you are, I think, well catered for on the internet.

I know a lot of people on WP advocate things like ethnic cleansing, and nuclear genocide. There are also plenty of conservative voices on the internet from Free Republic, to the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, to hundreds of Newscorp publications, MRA's, rightwing "libertarian" astroturfers, and more.

Look at the Yahoo comment pages, and you'll see plenty of that attitude.

Nope, the people who propose things like that are authoritarian scum. if we take most web censorship arguments at face value, it's not really a logical position to have, either. If someone has committed a crime, or intends to commit a crime, surely it makes it easier to catch them if they post about it online? Whatever lies politicians tell, the real reason they censor the internet is to block the public's access to information disseminated by new media.


You'll find them in many threads about the middle east.

If you don't think this place is amok with Conservatives, just say something that opposes their ideology and watch them gang up on you. And get away with it.

You mean the one that you derailed in your zeal to bash non-liberals at every opportunity, facts be damned?
