Imagine for a moment that your favorite cartoon was adapted into a 3rd/4th generation style video game...and the game wasn't bad.

Well, they're faux-retro with sprites in-between what you'd find on an NES and an Atari 2600, and colors more like a 16-bit system, but still.

Actually, most of those sprites are 4-bit (16 color) images. An 8-bit image can display up to 256 colors, like this one.

Unless you are referring to the 8-bit CPUs of those old game systems, which has very little to do with the image color depth.

^I was referring to images that looked like they came from old video games. Speaking of which, the pixelated Simpsons couch gag that I mentioned earlier was used for the episode "My Fare Lady". Also, the intro to Universal Studios' Scott Pilgrim vs. The World looked like it came from an old-school arcade game.
