If I ever have a gf, I don't want it to be on facebook.

I can't stand when people have photos of them locking lips as their profile photo. Mostly my beef is the lack of autonomy this implies. Plus I believe it's nobody's business, but maybe that's just me. I believe nobody cares that you are in a relationship, and all it does is anger tthose who aren't with somebody. Jealousy is the only thing that can come out of it, but maybe that's just my view.

Isn't that sort of the point of facebook and social media? Show the rest of the world what you're doing, whether they are interested or not.

"Today I'm shopping" - no one cares
"Today I got a new car" - no one cares
"Today I got a new gf" - no one cares

Nothing wrong with sharing love with people, the real trouble if you ask me is with monopolies such as Zuck's unwelcome experimentation with their users' minds. I agree, Facebook is 98% none of anybody's business; it's distracting and diverts everyone's attention away from the real-life people they logged in to talk to. Who better to exemplify how to live without social media information overload than those of us who already didn't need it? You can always route your friends to different accounts with a single post and it's really not that hard to just deactivate accounts. Removing annoyances from your computer does not change who your friends and family are.

I feel similarly, but for different reasons. For privacy and morality reasons, I prefer to give Facebook and their advertisers as little personal information as I possibly can.
