Hulu+, Netflix, or both. Which should I get?

I was just wondering what users on here use or prefer? I am living away at college and would like to have access to some of my favorite shows which I no longer get through my school's basic cable. I have used Hulu to watch most of them free of charge, but I'm not sure which is the better one when comparing Hulu+ to Netflix. Should I get both of them? What do you all think and what do you use if at all?

I am happy with Netflix. I have not used Hulu+, so I can't compare the two.

I had both for a while, and Netflix had so much more content to choose from that I found I was never using Hulu+ except to watch The Simpsons. :) So I dropped it and haven't missed it. You can choose the streaming-only option on Netflix which is cheaper than the DVD plan.

That is kind of what I was thinking in the back of my mind. Netflix just seemed to have much more to choose from. The Simpsons is one of those shows I enjoy. Is that not on Netflix? Even though I won't have access to all seasons, I can still watch the current episodes on Hulu for free. Just for ease of use in my current living situations, I would do the streaming. I brought all of my DVD's with me so I'm set in that field. :D

Yeah, no streaming Simpsons on Netflix. They've got Family Guy and American Dad, though. :)

Neflix has a lot of movies to choose from as well, right? I'm a huge movie buff and would love to watch something before I buy it for my collection.

The Netflix selection is much greater if you get the DVD option. I have both the DVD and streaming options. I don't make use of the DVD option as much as I'd like, but there have been times when I've been really glad to be able to get something on DVD that I couldn't stream. I've tried out some exercise DVDs that way - I definitely don't want to buy one I don't like.

You can't really get Hulu in Canada unless you use proxies, but I don't know anyone who's done this. As such, I have no idea what Hulu is like.

It used to be really really popular for people up here to use American DNS addresses to access the US Netflix, but they've been cracking down on that so now we're stuck with the Canadian version. Fortunately, the Canadian version has improved its selection a LOT over the last few years, and now we actually have some big-name movies along with a bunch of good series. I don't have a subscription, but pretty much all of my friends do, and the selection amazes me. We even have tons of anime now, which is something the Canadian version used to lack compared to the US version. If the US version is anything like our version (which it was, the last time I checked), it should be good.

Canada's never had the DVD service that US Netflix customers have, and I don't think anyone here even used it back when it was easy to use the US streams. It makes me a little bit jealous, but at the same time, I've largely given up on physical media for my entertainment needs, and I barely know anyone who even watches DVDs or Blu Rays anymore. The only person I know with a substantial Blu Ray collection is my uncle, but he's a major film buff, and he lives in an area with really crappy internet access, so Netflix streaming isn't even an option.
