A few years ago i hit and scratched 2 policeman but no one pressed charges on me.
I want to face the law if i do something wrong.

I hate people using my autism as a get out of jail free card.

If it was a few years ago you were probably only about 14, so you were too young to be charged.

I don't know the whole situation.

Maybe they didn't want you to have a police record at such a young age.

Maybe they thought you were acting like an idiot, and needed to just blow off steam.

perhaps need to get into activism then, mmcool, instruct the police on how woud like to be dealt with in those situations.

however with scratches, they tend to just give people strong talking tos as its a lot of paper work and legalities that needs filling out,its not something that like remembering but am very experienced in police encounters, due to mental capacity am not arrested but instead face pin downs/ handcuffs/leg cuffs plus soothing talk from them, but the next time it happens am looking at being relocated back into secure residential care again.

people need to face consequences regardless of their mental capacity, with incidents of mine, was not allowed to go to the trafford centre for two weeks after an incident there and have also been banned for weeks from going supermarkets for the same reason.
consequences can be tailored for everyone.

one of the lads who nearly ended up moving in here is also LFA and was very surprised to find out he is on bail and has an ASBO banning him from going in a part of the community due to his behavior there, thought that was prety awful and over the top,he is depressed enough as it is over his behavior.

from your description the cops over there must be relatively understanding compared to the storm troopers we have over here.

It is a bit more civilized there but even that is changing. For many years police (normal beat) did not carry guns nor did they need to. I think that has changed but last I read much of the police themselves do not want firearms.

For a country like ours that we like to think is highly civilized, we are very much the opposite. Compared to most of the western industrialized nations, I think we have the most militant police force. And it is rapidly becoming more and more like the Nazis in Germany 70 plus years ago. Just try talking to a policeman these days. I did in reference to my one child and wanted him to be given a big scare. Years ago they'd have been most happy to oblige but were incensed that I wanted to press charges. He had stolen my CC info and was committing credit card fraud as a juvenile. You think I could get the cop to see it was better to deal with it via the juvi system vs him getting worse and doing as an adult. Wanted to stop that behaviour fast and make an impression on my son. Guess what? Cop thought I was horrible father and then threatened to arrest me unless I left the station. 8O

I did not get abusive, disorderly, or anything. Here I thought perhaps they might want to help a parent that was trying a last resort to deal with an unruly child. Well he did more check fraud, CC fraud, heroine, theft, etc. He has a record of multiple felonies as an adult and is in jail more then out. Breaks my heart as I think when he was younger could have perhaps prevented that. Now will never know and his course in life is set. :x

Anyhow, here I shudder to think what they would do to someone having a meltdown. Autistic or not I don't think they'd care and would handle it with sheer brutality. Hardly a day goes by that we don't see some police abuse happening. Seems more prevalent as time goes on...

if our police are any indication, america is running on fumes. stick a fork in it, it's done for, just a matter of time, the end is closer that many think.

What was the reason behind hitting and scratching them?

You were lucky, you were young and the police likely took your condition into account. You should be thankful for how it was handled and at the same time understand that next might not work out so well. Adults usually don't get treated so mildly.

it's a very good thing you were younger then. definitely wouldn't have gotten off so easy of you were a more grown adult.

my uncle used to be a security guard, and one day, i thought i saw him at a shopping plaza and decided to give him a scare. well i startled a guard alright, but it wasn't my uncle.

i was an incredibly stupid child.

I hear you can get 25 years in prison for assaulting an officer! I would let bygones be bygones and use the get out of jail free card and just tell myself and assure myself to never ever do that again!

Over here they would have likely beaten and/or tased and/or OC sprayed the s**t out of you on the spot and/or charged you with assault for that. Autism or not, just be lucky they let you slide that time.

I think this would seem like a sign of mental problems to police, wanting to be in trouble for something. Especially from so long ago.
