I thought that it might be worthwhile to start a discussion/picture posting about unconventionally attractive women. I find myself more attracted to women who dont fit the standard of Greek beauty. In my opinion Jessica Alba is attractive but Hellen Mirren is far more attractive. So I guess there isnt all that much to discuss since you're either attracted to unconventional beauty or not but do post examples! Here's to the iconoclastic beauties.

Jessy Lanza an electronic musician. She has a somewhat slavic appearance which is compelling. I also love her music which helps hah

Sarah Vaughan
Billie Holiday
Sylvia Plath
Natasha Khan
Alice Coltrane
Laura Nyro

Interesting list as I've always had a thought on this, which is definitely missed by the music industry these days, but I believe people find talent attractive! You do have a list of talent people. And I'm one of the people who find Jessica Alba attractive (but not talented).

If someone has a skill or gift then it can draw you in.

talented people usually have top-quality genes, so it would stand to reason they were better looking as that is an outer manifestation of genetic fitness.

People tell me I look like Jessica Alba

I don't really find those women posted all that attractive. I find them rather homely and plain, looks wise. They look quite average. I bet they have great talents though!

e gustibus non est disputandum - IOW I guess one person's homely is another person's attractive. other people thought AMC pacers were ugly "lady bug" cars but I thought they were beautiful. yes, I often compare or liken cars with people in terms of appearance. :alien:

Those artists are simply indifferent to the "trends"; some of them can easily become conventionally attractive since they aren't really unattractive.

I sort of get what he means though. Both physically and mentally.

I guess conventional beauty is kind of production line fare. Put 100 conventionally attractive women in a room and you could probably make them over to look very very similar.

Conventional beauty simply means the most healthy and fertile women.

Most people look the same to me. Eyes, nose and mouth.

I can't tell what is good looking and what is not.

I have to rely on distinguishing features most of the time.

I think that that is a too neat. Beauty standards do seem to change over time sometimes significantly. Its certainly true but only partly

It changed in men after birth control pills and mass media became more widespread (compare Georg Hackenschmidt to Justin Bieber, for instance), but beauty standards in women have changed very little apart from haircuts. Absolutely all cultures, at all times given that food was plentiful, valued hourglass figures with large eyes, small noses, small jaws, and typical feminine features.

Absolutely all cultures? What about tribal societies and their body modifications
