I have not been paying attention lately to the BS express coming from Fox News, but as I notice that the commercialization and exploitation of Christmas for profit is in full thrust 100 days before the actual holiday...Has Fox, O'Rielly and Hannity yet begun their regularly scheduled, scripted, fabricated and highly anticipated "Liberal war on Christmas" campaign? If not, stay tuned.

I don't think it has started up on Fox yet, but it has begun here at work. It meshes well with the general "war on Christianity" malarkey that has been getting thrown around after someone was written up for praying for a patient's soul out loud and within the hearing of a Jewish person even after he had asked for it to stop.

It is already starting here in France too. A local big garden centre has cleared a huge area of garden supplies and garden furniture in preparation to litter it full of Christmas associated tat. So instead of tatty garden gnomes, plastic plants and pond lighting there will be tatty plastic reindeer, plastic Christmas trees and Christmas tree lighting.

The worse thing of all are the ones who believe just having a Christmas tree in your living room means you worship it :?

Hahahahaha!

This was exactly where my parents ended up for a few years. It was after someone pointed out to them where the whole idea for them (and for the timing of the holiday) came from. It was around the same time that they got very vocal about how all Catholics were Hell-bound idol worshippers.

Christ in physical form, I hate to break it to them, is actually an idol. Jewish anti idol God has no shape or form whatsoever and is pissed, according the their religious text, at people who worship forms and think that forms have special abilities.

One thing that may help you understand my parents a little better: Dungeons and Dragons was sopmething they considered devil worship. The Smurfs were secretly brainwashing children into using black magic and getting abortions (apparently the Smurfs were actually aborted fetuses). They also protested getting a used organ for the church as being too focused on material goods, and the church I grew up in split a bunch of times of stupid tiny differences. The nastiest over whether or not divorced people should be allowed to ever remarry. Oh, and when I first joined the military they called me a baby murderer and when I got out they called me a liberal socialist who hated America.

There are some pretty wacky people out there.

That sounds a lot like what we have in Christians Churches in the Bible Belt. Where were you raised, if you don't mind me asking?

Middle of nowhere, central Ohio. Right on the line between cows and corn country and hundreds of square miles of woods. My dad's family is all from the W Va foothills and my mom's from scary deep south Mississippi plantation country.

Given that Christmas is pagan, and there is no requirement to celebrate it, and they don't know when Jesus was born, but it may have been in June if he was indeed a single person, do what you want.

I tuned into Fox for a few minutes this morning to be greeted by the usual woman in short skirt perched perfectly in front of camera providing the obligatory Foz news trademark upskirt show. Not yet talking about Christmas but making sure to keep all the old geezers glued to the network until the malarkey begins

I'm a bit of an anomaly here in the Pacific Northwest being a church goer. Thankfully, no one that I see on Sundays buys into Fox's crap about a war on Christmas.
