A couple weeks ago I finished the YES program and I was excited to have my first job at the factory called Fashion Village as a packager but then it wasn't what I thought. I didn't get any breaks and when I did, it was a 15 or 20 minute lunch break. I had to work endlessly packaging clothes in each box and other menial task. My back was killing me and I couldn't walk normally. The boss and staff were indifferent. I wanted to take a break so I slacked off until I got into trouble. I didn't care. I was dying to rest because I hate the work I was doing. The worst part was having to fetch some clothes by going through boxes which I couldn't walk in.

The boss gives me the task and he turned to his employees which by the way were all South Asian including the boss conversing in a different language which I don't understand what they're saying. I was like "hello we're in Canada where you speak English or French if you're in Québec not in whatever country you're from". Apparently he hired me because my physical appearance resembles theirs despite the fact that I have a Spanish last name and I'm from Central America. It seems so bizarre because when the media mentions Latinos, they usually picture them as dark skinned when in real life not all of them are dark. Some are light skinned, others are caramel like mine I guess. Very often the media depicts South Asians as having a clichéd Hindu accent. I'm not any of those stereotypes You idiot! (to the media and to those who are ignorant). I'm just me.

I wish I could wear a disguise if I were stuck working in hell hole so no one can mistake me for a Hindu because I eat meat and the staff are vegetarian. No offence. I just hate the boss because I was talking to a co worker who was smoking and the boss accused me of smoking and called me stupid. The coworker came to my defence saying he was the one smoking. I told the boss I wanted to go home and he fired me for something I didn't do. I said fine I don't want to be here. Imagine me tearing up "go to hell you evil bastard! How dare you insult me! You have destroyed me! I shall burn you in hell and burn your ghetto down. I hope your factory will die down. You'll be sorry! Y u so cruel to me! Go eat your vomit, No more Mr nice guy with a miserable heart. So beat it moron. Ugly face cockroach!" I hate that bastard! I'd kill him! I didn't mean it literally. The worst boss I ever had. I'm free from hell. Hello paradise! Hello world! So good to be home. Home at last.

Sounds like this was a sweatshop and I'm pretty certain he's violating all kinds of laws. I'm from the US but I do know that Canada has a lot of laws protecting the worker. You might be able to stick it to this guy if you chose: check with the department of labor.

Not for long. I don't know if I can sue the boss for workers rights violations but I think it's a great idea for me to talk to the Ministry of Labour. Before I go I will have to wait for my pay check.
