This week I started volunteering at a local mental health center, not sure if I can say more because of privacy weekends. Anyway, there I volunteer for two hours a week (one hour for two days) and help with one of their programs where young teens with autism or ADHD are brought in to learn social skills and get help with homework. I basically just supervise them and talk with them, and I love these guys, it's a really fun to do. Does anyone else have any experience working with other people with autism?

I don't have experience working with other people who have autism, but I think it's wonderful what you are doing.

Cool to see that you are helping those with autism. I might try it myself since I've done a lot of volunteer work in the past.

Yes. I work with autistic teenagers. I enjoy interacting with them and having those totally honest conversations you can only have with a fellow Spectrumite.

That sounds brilliant. Well done. :)

I would like to do something like that, although not sure there are many voluntary jobs for untrained people to work with people with mental health issues over here, but there is a playground and center for people children and young people with disabilities near where I am, so I was thinking I'd like to do that if can cope with it.

Work with them? Only for school assignments. Otherwise, we enjoy each other's company.
