I know today is Monday, but I always seem to feel this acute, gut-punch depressed feeling on Sunday evenings at about 5pm or 6pm.

I hate "that feeling".

However, I usually feel fine on Monday morning.

What is up with that?

I know what you mean. I think it is all to do with the conditioning we had as children. Sunday evening was all about preparing yourself for another week at school. It made us think that we are not free beings and that most of our lives we are forced into doing something we don't want to do.

Yes, agree totally. The most loathsome hour of the week. I still feel the ghosts of it 40 yrs later - homework not done and (in Britain) TV that seemed to reflect the mood ie 'Songs of Praise' and 'Last of the Summer Wine'.

I don't usually feel depressed, just anxious about trying to get up earlier so I can go out with my mom for our weekly lunch. Today I slept in until noon but mom said we could go at 12:30, so we did. Last night it took me forever to get to sleep, I was more like resting and not actually asleep until around 5am. And when I got home I went and napped on the couch until 5 am. Arrgh, why does society think we should all be up at dawn?!
