"Putin in a nutshell!"

You mean one of those toys with all the different "shells?"

Good idea. I'll help stuff him in.

Crude, and a low blow, but I laughed.

One of the few world leaders actually worth assassinating. Unfortunately, he's more likely to be on the sending end of that particular play.

And he has. A former KGB agent vocally critical of Putin had immigrated to Britain, where he was poisoned with - I believe - plutonium, and died a slow, lingering, miserable death.

Yes, it was Alex Litvinenko. And they say another powerful immigrant from Russia, Boris Berezovskiy, was also assasinated in England in some way by Russian secret service.

Above all his regime inside RUssia is something terribl. I am from there, from Moscow - and my only dream is to escape it. However it's now very difficult to find any official job in EU, USA, Canada or any other more or less free country unless you are very high-level specialist in area like IT. If I have work permission, I'd better work in McDonalds in New York then have more than average salary in Moscow. But they don't give permissions for such low-level jobs.

I am sincerely sorry to hear about your dilemma. The west has it's own problems.

I know, I was living in USA for few months - but believe me these problems are nothing in comparison with live in Russia. Have you read Orwell's 1984? Here you can see it comes alive. You don't support president's course - president officially names you "traitor of the nation", you write in blog about some problem in society needs to be solved - FSB (ex-KGB) takes you for interrogation and so on...

It was polonium 210; using such an exotic material that's almost exclusively produced in Russia was like giving the world the finger, or a very clever touch by someone trying to make it look that way.

Oh, I have no doubt Putin was behind it - He probably was too giddy with vindictive vengeance that he couldn't help but brag about it with the obvious.

Aside from the whole murder part, I was appalled at how sloppy whole thing was, I mean the guy has tea with a couple of FSB agents and suddenly has a massive dose of radioactive material in his system, it just seemed so crude and petty, though I have to wonder what the hell a high profile defector was thinking having tea with Russian security officers. The Soviets at least had style, I mean the ricin pellet umbrella gun, the cyanide cigarette pack, the silent derringer that was designed to replicate the ballistics of a Kalashnikov rifle, those things at least had a bit of elegance and discretion, where as Putin is just a thug and doesn't care who knows it.
