With the 2014 Nobel Prize in Medicine having been awarded today, I'd like to revive my question about the Economics Prize (as I asked the same question in 2012).

The Prize in Economics is awarded Monday, October 13th.

Any guesses/opinions?

a long shot, however, perhaps, Barack Obama for applied economics

1) it would look good next to his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize and
2) the prize goes to a "minority" so it lessens accusations of racism
3) he aided America in borrowing ~7.8 trillion, thus demonstrating modern economic theory

And Jean Tirole wins.

"For his analysis of market power and regulation".

A blue 'participation award' ribbon would look good next to Obama's Peace Prize.

He doesn't deserve either because...

1. He's not doing anything about the economic ground zero that is Detroit which will soon become the fate of the rest of the country.
2. He's not doing anything about the increasing wage gap. We're making less and less money every year.
3. He listens only to lobbyists for conglomerates.
4. He appoints lobbyists for conglomerates into positions of power and acts like he has no authority over what they do in their new positions.
5. That brings me to his Net Neutrality speech. He supports it but he still appointed a guy from Comcast into the FCC to destroy it anyway.
6. I took down SOPA and then brought it back.
7. That brings me to his support for the TPP, TTIP, and TISA. Free trade is ruining this country and no one wants to undo it.
8. He lets conglomerates do what they please. Privatize, Outsource, and monopolize everything from resources to jobs and military.
9. The constitution means very little under Obama's watch. The rights of the few outweigh the rights of the many. Corporations are people now.
10. I had a nightmare where Obama ran for a 3rd term and they just gave it to him. Two term rule? What's that?! This country would die if another four years we had to listen to lip service.
11. Obama is he first black president and shall be remembered for nothing more if not a gutless fraud and a liar in future history books.
Obama supporters, WAKE THE F*** UP! He promised us change and this is what he really meant.

It will go to the pet parrot of your choice when you teach him to say the phrase "supply, and demand!".
