This sucks. I just figured out I'm an aspie. I wish I would've known earlier. I'm 31 now, and I took the aspie test a few weeks back. I scored 82/200, and it's low because for the past 10 years I've been really trying hard to be socially normal. If I would've taken that test 10 years back it would've been close to 175/200. I've been reading posts for the past month and pretty much every question asked seems so familiar. I feel a mix of pain and happiness knowing I'm not the only one. I just thought I was just disliked because of my appearance/personality but never knew this was a documented psychological condition. If I would've known this 10 years ago maybe my progress would have been faster.

I'm able to talk to people now and keep a conversation going for several minutes. I used to avoid people like the plague. I would go to school and go straight back home. I would especially avoid going into elevators with my classmates. Now I don't care as much and ride elevator with whoever is in it. I have so much to say... it will take me over a year to write it all. I hope I learn from all of you and some of you learn from my experience as well. Last thing I want to say... almost all of the questions asked here are what I've asked myself and reading them makes me want to cry because it feels like I'm looking in a mirror. :(

Welcome.

Are you into Norse mythology, by any chance?

Yep....being a Spectrumite has its irritations--but it could have its joys as well, provided you give yourself the opportunity.

No, I just picked this name because I heard it in a movie and it sounded nice. :)

I kind of know how you're feeling. I learned a couple months ago through some form of testing that was supposed to tell me strengths and weaknesses in terms of my job search. But the testing also said that I'm on the spectrum. It upset me at first. Mainly because all my life I've just been shy or had some issues with talking in big groups and that's all I thought it was. Shyness/social anxieties. And then these results, etc. I'm still getting used to it. And I feel like the results would have been different had I answered some questions more honestly on the test.

Lol, you definitely aren't lying by saying that if you knew ten years ago, what you know now, life would be a little easier, more understanding. I can relate totally lol.
