Okay it may be too early to get excited but yesterday I took some Magnesium. Apparently a defiency of magnesium causes light sensitivity, migraine and sensitivity to noise. I managed to spend more than half an hour in the brightly lit store horror that is GAP. And felt a bit calmer, anyway will continue supplementing and keep an eye on the results. If anyone wants to give it a go Magnesium Malate absorbs the best or eat lots of green veg.

I have read that people are often low in magnesium. I tried to put a small amount of Epsom salt(magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) in a glass of ice tea but it broke up the body feel of the tea. Which I guess is the same mechanism as milk does to tea with its
calcium (similar 2+ charge and chemistry) some how reacting with the tannins in the tea.

Epsom salts can also give you he runs. I expect the Magnesium malate may have the same effect if I reach my quota then I will know I've had too much !!!

Well, I never heard the bit about magnesium deficiencies exascerbating sensitivities. It doesn't work that way with me. It DOES.....

HELP PREVENT HEART PROBLEMS
HELP PREVENT MUSCLE PROBLEMS
HELP PREVENT MIGRAINES/HEADACES
HELP PREVENT IMMUNITY PROBLEMS
HELP PREVENT BRAIN PROBLEMS
HELP PREVENT PAIN PROBLEMS
HELP PREVENT BONE PROBLEMS
etc....

PROVEN, ESTABLISHED, FACT! Proven in studies, and I proved it with me! It makes sense since it is needed to build bone, get amino acids, and metabolize calcium.
Most people ARE deficient. The best natural source of magnesium is apparently spinnach. Too much CAN give you the runs. BTW the storage mechanism is bone, so a deficiency can cause osteoporous and arthritus!

Why don't doctors tell you this? Any question as to why I HATE doctors?

why? cause most doctors are bone headed idiots and nothing out of their field of knowledge can possibly exist cause their med books tells them so...f**k heads!

Well damn it I spoke too too soon. I've had a hideous meltdown today, I accompanied sister and her children to a summer fair, the light, bass music, loud noise, sunlight too much feeling very dizzy now and knocked out. I'm sick of being house bound.

Damn, that's really disappointing. Sad Perhaps you were just having a good day after all.

Anyway, if taking magnesium could reduce sensory defensiveness, it would already be used to treat Sensory Integration Disorder; but, as far as I know, they still haven't found a cure.

Well, try sunglasses for bright light. They MAY help. As for sounds, many may think I have NO skewed hearing. I don't necessarily hear BETTER, etc... I DID recently buy a "silent dog whistle", and I DOUBT it is silent. If I tried it out, and people COULD hear it, they would think I was nuts. Maybe I'll try it on my mother when she comes to visit this weekend. Anyway, there ARE some public noises, and some some LOVE! If a person stood in front of me and forced me to hear it, I might CHOKE him! It is PAINFUL! EVEN if barely audible! So JUST TODAY I bought more ear plugs! I know that doesn't help the BASS as much though.

But YEAH, magnesium HELPS hearing and the brain, so I wouldn't think it would help hypERsensitivity.

Do you think in the context of a calcium magnesium zinc supplement it might be good?..I have been meaning to start taking one of those...
Also i am pretty sure you can take too much magnesium...

Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc is PERFECT!

You need about 1G of calcium, 400mg of Magnesium, and I forget how much zinc(Apparently it is about 15mg), but zinc is quite a bit less, and even less for women. EVERYONE needs zinc, but men need more zinc like women need more iron. If you get magnesium too quickly, it will cause the runs. If you get it and are otherwise healthy, just dial it back a bit. This is HARMLESS! If you overdose a LOT on calcium, it COULD create nasty problems(Even some subtle/harmless ones like deposits in womens breasts can be scary at best), but the ratio of magnesium and monitoring that will make such problems unlikely. Overdose of zinc is unlikely, and requires a prolonged episode. The problems are similar to deficiencies. AGAIN, the magnesium monitoring will make that unlikely. 15mg shouldn't be a problem even for women.

BTW The first problems for major deficiencies are probably:

Calcium -- Arthritus
Magnesium -- Muscle pain or immunity
Zinc -- Taste or immunity
