I have only know about AS for the past year.Prior to that, I claimed my "alien status" with some pride, some confusion and definite disappointment that the ships did not appear to be coming back to pick me up.I had patiently observed the native inhabitants and their bizarre rituals and was waiting to relay this information to the "home planet"....where the heck were they.Surely they had some form of GPS and hadnt taken a wrong turn? One thing was sure.I had no interest in "going native".I do not/did not belong, nor have I any desire to.
Anyone else disappointed in finding themselves in this position?Anyone familiar with what aliens who crash-land on another planet do to survive? Some can and do assimilate as well as possible.Good for them. Some of us never can.The only alternative is to try and recreate our home planet as best we can with the alien resources available.Ideally,we can find others of our planet or similar minded planets to help in the construction of this "familiar oasis".
That is what I want to do,be a part in the creation of "aspie nation".It's not an original aspie dream but one that many of us have(when we can beat the insomnia and actually "sleep").I've heard plans of buying or building an Island, buying some cheap land and setting up a commune. The insurmountable obstacle appears to be jobs/money.Statistics show that the majority of people with AS work for less then their "ability/education".The hurdles are the job interview, lack of promotion within Co.,and some aspie traits that make socialization and communication with NT's difficult. Many of us are intelligent, compassionate and hard working people.I think our biggest obsticle to success is being the minority in a majority of NT's.Fish are not defective birds, they are just not well suited for flying (and only an idiot or a sadist would ask them to.)Put them in some water and they thrive.
So what are we waiting for......some NT's to come along and build us a pond? All I have seen most of them do is give us "therepy" to except that we are defective birds that need to learn how "caw" and sit on eggs(I realize the irony, that some of us already do flap ,it appears to be one trait that fish and birds share).
Well, someone has a plan, and I am on board. They have done their research, are aspie and have a commitment to their own survival and a willingness to offer a chance for aspies to invest with their labor or in buying "shares" in "Aspie Nation".He isnt comfortable with disclosing all the details until some interest is shown.....but I can tell you some of the plan and we can share some of our own needs/ideas, to see if it can be worked out. It's in America,a very small town in need on our injection to stimulate their economy. This is not a hippy commune,we wont be running around the town naked(at least at first),tripping,or serving any "special kool-aid".It will start small and the direction it eventually takes will be based on the abilities, interests of the aspie inhabitants. It will begin as construction, repair of existing structures and industry(printing, publication and molding factory). There is a place for some expansion in tourism; both an aspie retreat and the 300,ooo tourists who pass through on their way to a large State Park.I have noticed a lot of aspies are interested in "creating"=stuff to sell tourists.I invision an art community that sells both local and international aspie art.I have a plan to develope jobs for computer and media savy aspies.
I am currently looking into small business loans/grants for women with disabilities. We would solicit funds for other business loans to expand the communitys recources as the town grows.
The original owner of this property also has a dream. He has written a book(which I think is fantastic)that would make a perfect anima and video game. After the hotel is finished(It is already built but needs restructuring and repair),it will house an animation studeo(and hopefully game designers)residence. He would also like to have an aspie retirement community for those on SSI,sick of over paying and living in city gettoes.
We will need strong backs, people who can cook simple fair to feed a construction crew, people interested in learning a trade through apprenticeship with the oportunity of becoming the full time builders for the new housing in the community as it grows.A few workers who can work factory or are interested in printing publications(Hopefully by aspies but not exclussively)We are talking simple adobe structures(yes with bathrooms, electric and wifi)I am hoping we will draw people who have an interest in alternative energy and farming, many business could be created in these fields(local and international). We need people with some people skills to help in the publications(advertising sales and marketing). We would NOT exclude NT's,there are many family members and no body is going to check your "aspie papers" before you enter the city limits.I dont think we would need to be worried about being over run by NT's,though,as I havent ever seen them fight to be near me in the past
So what do you think?Ideas and suggestions....volunteers?Does it seem like a place you might want your kids to have when they grow up?Do you think a bunch of "social retards" can build a dream? I do.I have said it once and I will keep saying it until even the NTs believe me.Aspies are our nations least utilized natural resource. If they cant see us as more than people to sell their latest "cure",lets show them what they are missing(and invest ourmoneny and labor in remaining true to ourselves). _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesn't mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

Tim,at this time, this will be my favorite form of rule...."benevolent dictatorship by a philosopher king(nope, not me).As time goes on,it will be based on whatever the shareholders(those who invest our time and money)decide.Eventually it will probably turn into the same sordid mess that now passes as a democracy...the person with the most money to invest in PR wins,no matter who wins, the rest of us lose, thats only if NT's take over,at which point...I'll be moving. _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesn't mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

Will the economy be free market or socialist?

I'd stick an air pistol through the driver's window and make them hand over a quarter, anyway. (J/K!)
Seriously, though, this is an interesting site that I joined yesterday:

capitislist when dealing with outsiders, socilist within the community....(ie,a community center to share books, movies, trade labor for goods, etc.)I am not against the free market,I am against the insanity of greed that exceeds need. Those who want to put a percentage of their business profits back into the community to build communal resources will be incouraged to live there.
I will check out the web site. This is my new obsession. We are 1 in 150,and this town isnt going to hold us all.I want to see communities sprouting up every where. _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesn't mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

Well, there's the fatal flaw.
Anyone outside America who's been paying attention lately won't have much interest in migrating there. |

Actually, most of us here who are paying attention, would also like to migrate.Read much about the decline of Rome?Well Nero is fiddeling. But some of us dont have the money to relocate or are dependent on SSI(not me personaly but my BF has MS),so we are stuck here until someone developes a community somewhere else that will except refugees. _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesn't mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

I'll join... but I remain a skeptic.
Here's my ideal government plan.
The territory is divided into duchies led by dukes, which are subsequently divided into manors, each ruled by a lord. At the top of the social hierarchy is a king and a queen, whose rulings are passed or refuted by a group of representatives chosen by the common folk each year. If a common person purchases his own land, then he is no longer restricted to the ownership of a lord. Also, communities can pay taxes to the king in order to be not governed by a lord, which would create free towns. The price of basic goods would be regulated, but everything else is up to entrepreuneurship.
Guess what my obsession is. |

Well,I wont go into my argument about the current statistics about females with AS who are not DXed but I will say that they are attracted to a town full of nerds(I was long before I was DXed...Spock and Kung FU were my teen sex symbols). If you look at the membership here,it's about half female.But....there are also local girls and Mexican immigrants who might like a nice aspie guy.People from other cultures are more often tolerant of others "differences" or just assume it's because your "foreign" not retarded. You will have less NT makes to compete with and having a descent job with a future is very appealing to many potential partners(I dont think Bill Gates is single).
You are currently NOT living in an aspie community, how many dates are you getting now? _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesn't mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

| Heres another thing. Realistically, how many of us have enough money to start something like this in America? Its more logical to take our money where the USD is worth more, thus making us wealthy and able to afford anything we need/want. |

We're trying to do that... wow, there are so many threads about this!
Hopefully we'll be able to turn the commune into a nation! I think we all want to expand it! Of course I want that!
Hey, guys, check my link on the second-to-last page of the commune thread in the Random Discussion forum! |

I would've thought that it'd be better to establish an 'aspie nation' in a country where they *don't* experiment on people with AS... Even if it's only a few children at this point, it doesn't leave me a whole lot of confidence in the future.
Buy an island somewhere and declare independance. I'd love to see an aspie in the UN |
