There is now a new version of Aspie-quiz were Leibowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) can be taken after the main test. The objective is to show that ASDs and social phobia are (highly) correlated.

I'm having a good day, and I suspect this affects my score.

150/200 Aspie
56/200 NT

84/144 Social Phobia (Severe)

I don't consider myself severe. I'd say moderate.

I'd say I am definitely an Aspie. I noticed mainly a couple of Aspie traits I had which I never understood when I thought I was an NT. 1) I never used body language. I just figured that people would listen to the words I was saying and would thus understand what I was talking about. If someone was talking I always just looked them directly in the face or wouldn't look at them at all. Now I realize that is incredibly weird. Once I started looking at body language, I was surprised how much people use hand gestures and such. It makes me paranoid. How much are they really conveying with all that gesturing and hand symbols? 2)I would get ultra focused on what I was doing if I was actually interested in it. If I was playing a videogame, or listening to a song even and someone would interrupt me, I'd fly off the handle. 3)I had a lot of friends, but I never really socialized normally. Often I'd talk about the same topics over and over again from every facet and in detail. 4)I only understood things if they were broken up into every single component part. Higher maths, like algebra are impossible to figure out because there are so many different rules operating at once. 5)My thoughts were a literal monologue. I don't know if this is normal or not, but it is on the quiz. I'd have a running stream of thought going all the time. There are many more, but these are just the ones that come to mind immediately.

The score on the Aspie quiz didn't really surprise me, as I've been averaging about a 164 +/- 5 points. The social phobia score, however, was interesting as I thought that it would be higher. I guess that I am coping better than I thought I was. :)

.... wait... what?

I guess it's because I didn't score nearly on high in the Fear column as the Avoidance column. Do people here consider "that makes me uncomfortable/nervous" to be the same thing as "I am afraid of that"? I guess I don't consider them the same thing. Fear seems like so much more primal an emotion than basic reluctance/discomfort.

Uhm yay?

Hee! Going off track for a sec -- do you self-narrate? I catch myself doing this sometimes, where I suddenly notice that I'm examining my own thoughts from a sort of third person perspective.

What a great test! I almost feel they must have been spying on me. (frightened by the sound of a motor-bike, when you read numbers or single letters do particular colors or sounds come to mind, have others told you that you have an odd posture or gait - an officer once complained I stood at attention "like a sandwich")
