| How many of you have seen, or at least heard of this movie? In the office where I work, people make references to it all the time, whether as an intentional joke or as a part of regular conversation. Fortunately, I've seen the movie myself, so I can contribute when the situation warrants it. What do you think of this movie? I'm wondering how popular this movie is among aspies. |

I don't know if other autistics love this movie or not, but my son and I think it's funny. We quote lines from it all the time.

I suppose it's the absurdity of the whole "office culture" that this movie points out....it just cracks me up.
It makes me think of work and then, I just don't want to go anymore _________________ Compressing the most words into the smallest ideas possible.

I find it quite depressing in some areas. I do like and sympathize with some of the characters. . ..particulary the one with the stapler. _________________ All your bass are belong to us. |

Yeah, the stapler-guy got them back though, for treating him badly. It's so like that in an office situation (okay, maybe a wee exagerated).
I could see the managers where I work not telling an employee that they have been canned and still allowing them to come in and work (without pay) simply because they didn't want to confront them. They try to get people to quit instead of firing them, usually. _________________ Compressing the most words into the smallest ideas possible.

First Kevin Smith made a movie about life in a convience store, then Mike Judge makes a movie about life in the office.
While many parts of it fictionalized or exagerated for the purposes of entertainment, Judge makes a very powerful statement about the state of todays work environment.

I've seen it and love the movie
If you'll allow me to go on a rant here, there's a secretary here at the office I'm interning at who has almost the exact same annoying high-pitched voice as the receptionist in that movie I freakin' hate people like that!!!! How she goes through the day putting such a fake smile on all the time without pulling a facial muscle or something I'll never know |

| I've never seen it, but a friend of mine, who is the least aspie-ish person I know, is obsessed with it. |

| The movie was definitely intriguing, and gave a true but exxagerated portrayal of office life (According to my parents- I've never worked in an office. However, the office setting in the movie seemed an awful lot like high school...). Its only flaws were that it was a bit over the top in a lot of places and that it was anti-climactic in every sense of the word. (But, then, I'll forgive that on the grounds that it was probably -supposed- to be like that.) |
