What is your first name? Steve
Age: 37 (Wish people wouldn't ask ages. birth years are much more durable. b. 1968).
Location: Washington DC
Hobbies and Interests: Really kinda one-tracked on programming I guess. Used
to enjoy hiking as a diversion but I live in the city and walk to work now so that
kills two birds with one stone.
Why are you here? I seem to have a lot of Asperger charactersistics.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I was diagnosed with Tourette's, Neurosis, OCD and a lot of other crap in my late teens and early 20s, before AS was on the RADAR. I'm almost certainly prosopagnosic too. I've never been formally diagnosed with either though. Really, I got into adulthood and managed to build something like a life, although it's got a lot of missing pieces, and I was diagnosed with everything except what I've most likely got.
Favorite subjects: Duh. Computers!
Year/Grade: Mercifully no longer working for a grade, unless you count the little numbers that the bank keeps track of as a grade.
Favorite music: Very eclectic, but "psychedelic" rock from the 60s and 70s is a perennial favorite. 80s music too.
Books: The Bible, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Far and away the two most influential books I've read.
TV shows/Movies: Fox Sunday night cartoons!!!
Instrument: I have been meaning to learn piano. I tried guitar a few years ago and just couldn't stand the finger positions.
Do you like sports? If so, which ones?: Hiking, and most friendly "pickup" games of soccer are fun.
Family: My parents had me when they were older, and they have passed away. One sister. I'm pretty sure she's NT.
Clothing: Jeans. T-shirt. Preferably a solid color, but will tolerate company logos because the T-shirt is free. Hiking shoes of some kind. Classic J. Random Hacker look.
How did you find this website? Google.
Job: Software engineer.
Plans for the future? What do you think I am? a prophet or something? OK, I'd really like to find a mate, but it's insanely difficult. So, barring that I'll probably just spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to deal with life and hopefully getting better.
Any comments? Nah, pretty much commented out.
Let 'er rip! Ah, OK... one more comment. The blue/green scroll bars are very disorienting for some reason. I don't know why. I'm not colorblind. I can see that they are different, but I keep wanting to use the blue area as a scroll bar. This doesn't happen on other sites. |
