This is a program that I go by in the very small school that I now attend. They say that they are specially trained with dealing with students with Asperger's Syndrome, that they have a lot of experience with kids with Asperger's and students with similar problems. Instead, I get a class full of criminals.

Applied Behavior Analysis.

Its a pretty common "treatment." Here's a FAQ on ABA.

http://behavior.org/autism/index.cfm
Note: I know *nothing* about this site. It was just the first one on the google today.

Edited to add: Are you going to your districts EBD school? Do you have an IEP? Often one earns their way out of such schools. Is that what you are looking at?

ah!

I knew it wouldn't be the American Bar Assoc or the American Banker Assoc.

ABA (the other one, not your school) is a very common abreviation on parent boards.

So, is this a public or private school?

Honestly, I think ABA has its place, and it's not in the trash. Not all the time.

*dodges rotten tomatoes*

Seriously, there are so many variations of ABA, and there are so many varying issues and degrees of severity on the spectrum, that I think that saying "I would not like to go through this" is an unfair way to evaluate it. Maybe you woulnd't have/didn't/don't need intervention of this type. This is not the case with every individual. There is a difference between torturing someone for self-stimming (which seems to be how most people picture ABA) and preventing someone from harming themselves; a difference between programming a person like a computer and changing some behaviors a person exhibits which interfere with their functioning while not changing the core of them.

Might I add, To say that spectrum behaviors which are seen by many people as maladaptive are the core part of your being is a little unfair to you.
