Our area is getting bad. The side walks are being torn out for more office space as if there wasn't enough. I luv getting outside just to walk. I also don't have a car and there are no available buses from where I live. Now since this is a fitness and health subject what can I do for movement. I can't stand sitting for a long period of time. I also can't afford or fit a treadmill in this small mobile home. Any ideas?

Are there any parks in your area that have walking trails?

If you're short on space and have trouble exercising outside for whatever reasons (not meant to sound cynical) then how about getting something like a rowing machine.
A rowing machine doesn't have to cost too much, or take up too much space and if you get bored using it you can put it in fron of the tv when working out to take your mind off things.

I can understand how you feel. This time last year I had a broken ankle (again) and i was stuck sitting down most of the time which drove me nuts. My depression came back to previous levels instead of the low level it had been at and I was bored to tears on some days. Getting back in the gym certainly saved my sanity.

Anyway, got a little sidetracked, apologies.
Hope things work out for you.

I wish there was. They're building a bass pro. Someone told me that it looks like they'll build a place to walk. If they do that'd be great. I'm so tired of looking at buildings and cement. The closest park is in another town, sometimes I go there.

maybe, a skipping rope (those cheap plastic ones...) could be the best 5$ to spend in your situation. Smile

Those are actually kind of fun. We used those in high school in Strength & Agility class.

If you're into gaming, you could always set yourself up with Dance Dance Revolution.

New office space means lots of pavement. That allows some of the best exercise to be done: skating. I suggest figuring out a circuit somewhere, so that if you want to skate for an hour you can without leaving a familiar area.

Get a treadmill and a big screen HDTV so you can watch the National Geographic channel and fool yourself into thinking you're actually out in nature.

Do you have any back yard at all? You could run back and forth over a small space over and over, you might look silly but it would be useful. Are there any free gyms such as a local Y? Do you have a flight of stairs in or around your home? You can jog in place, or even get an exercise bike.

No, my backyard is very small with a steep hill near the front road. Wish I did.

I play with my skateboard inside. I put on music and just glide back and forth and spin in circles. If I go fast enough, it feels like exercise.
