Small feedback from a local audience...
The website is (to my mind) almost unusable. I've sent messages about it, via it (which was a trial, in itself).
Try displaying the front page as "Text Only". Or try the "Be Counted" page with a large text size selected. Try W3C and accessibility checks on the pages.
All the glitz distracts attention from any message.
More to the point, the "quotes" on the front page look as if they came from the "Autism Speaks" website. The popups that go with them... incoherent? It hardly mattered that the popup covered over the thing you clicked on (and ignored "text only" and text size), because there didn't seem to be any connection to the "quote".
I think the NAS is a great organization and does a superb job. I think this campaign is excellent. I just don't understand how the website could have been put together so poorly. As I remarked via the feedback form: "Pretty? Yes. Functional? No. Accessible? No."

The Website is pretty much unusable and partially misrenderred in Konqueror. Also, I wouldn't use any scripting in the 'compatible' version.

The content is good, but regarding webdesign there could be improvements. I speak as a experienced amateur webmaster. At the index page should either a welcome or brief introduction. The purple font in the middle is well... hard to read... more suitable for headers. I have the view that every link should appear different when you roll the mouse over it. For instance the menu panel on the left, yes does that, but the quotes is not entirely obvious are links. Partially sighted people, or even someone with glaucoma (such as I) may not notice the cursor changing to the hand. Even a text link can be made to look like a link (underlined, different hover color). I could go on in much the same vein for a number of other features, but these are the main ones that would comment on on first impression.
Being a charity, it should be clear about its causes, and this should be spelt out briefly and clearly on the index page. |
