| Hi! I have a fellow psychology student friend who pulled up some research and statistics on autistic persons. He has found that autistic people do not enjoy smoking marijuana. I would just like some feedback on any experiences or opinions. |

I have in the past quite extensively and still do on occasion but have now switched to a legal high alternative. I personally enjoy it and use it for several reasons:
1. Helps me calm down and relax
2. Helps with my insomnia
3. Helps me control my obsessions, compulsions and intrusive thoughts
4. Balances out any anxiety i feel in social situations
5. Works better for me than anti depressants, allows me to get as close to happiness as i can at this point. |

| It causes extremely adverse reactions in me...but these reactions are not typical of all folk on the spectrum who have smoked marijuana. |

It does the exact opposite of all of those for me |

You should have done a poll maybe.
I have never taken any of that kind of thing. In my day, we liked to get someone to go into the off-license and buy us the forbidden alcohol. |

I haven't smoked a thing and gets sick if I smell smoke.
I have smelled marijuana being smoked and it smells weird. _________________ Humans are intelligent, but that doesn't make them smart. |

Some people, both "NT" and those w/ASD's dislike & have adverse reaction to weed-and some people of both neurological sorts quite like it & have beneficial reaction to it. Same as it is with any substance, drug, food, environmental stimuli-answer is not identical across all humans, individuals differ.
It's unfortunate that the political, research, and cultural climate are as they are, because these preclude investigation & honest appraisal of positive features of & experiences with (not just the negative ones) particular materials. Fear of legal penalty interferes with conducting studies & evenhanded data collection.
It interacts well with my particular systems of body & mind, in my subjective opinion-I don't recommend it for all people by any means. Just as there are drugs (whether over-the-counter or prescribed) that do not work well with my systems, yet other people find them beneficial & helpful.
It makes my mind feel more whimsical & fun-and I can adjust the dosage as I see fit, as needed-unlike a pill. Plus the side f/x are (again, speaking only for self) are, as I perceive them, negligible-the side f/x of antidepressants & anti-anxiety pills were much more significant, obvious & intrusive-and weren't worth the minor improvement provided by the "legit" medication. _________________ *"You cannot administer a wicked law impartially-it destroys everyone it touches, its violators as well as its upholders."* |

I've never tried weed but it's the only illegal drug I'll go near. Thing of it not being addictive or dangerous to your body unless addicted is why. It has helped people like my dad when he was alive. He was physically disabled in a lot of pain, he was perscribed and made it less painful.
I think many probably don't because it is a "downer" not a "upper". Most people look to get high to feel like they're in the air. Not to down to earth. |

If I do have 'autistic traits', dope probably accentuates them; for example, I find myself more uncomfortable in social situations... and if I smoke it alone (as I prefer), I have this habit of pouring through dozens of random Wikipedia articles.

| I liked it at first, but then I went into other drugs. Then it seemed to make me really anxious and paranoid, I also think they've had an after affect on me. I think when people say it helps them with their anxiety, what do you think made you anxious in the first place?? Also, do they think they can rely on it all their lives? I've seen 35 year olds look 85, due to drugs. Anyone i've met who are older, and still smoke it are strange. |
