Here are my teams for the first round:

Western Conference:

1. Spurs vs. Suns - I hope the Spurs show the Suns why the Suns LOST the Western Conference finals last year. In spite of their old age, I am hopeful that this HISTORIC Spurs team of our era can at least once win back to back championships. I'm favoring the Spurs.

2. Mavericks vs. Hornets - I can't root against Avery Johnson and former Texas A&M player Antoine Wright. Although I admire the Hornets somewhat, I'm favoring the Mavericks.

3. Rockets vs. Jazz - The Rockets are cool. It is tough to get a cooler cast than Tracy McGrady, Rafer Alston, Shane Battier, Luther Head, Chuck Hayes, Steve Francis, and Yao Ming (If he plays). (Some old wikipedia rumors claim that Rafer Alston is an Aspie, but it is a myth I have not been able to confirm). On top of that, they represent HOUSTON. I'm favoring the Rockets.

4. Lakers vs. Nuggets - I had a HUGE anti-Laker Asperger's obsession back in 2001-2003 when they were winning. In this series, I'm favoring the Nuggets.

Eastern Conference:

1. Hawks vs. Celtics - I like the Celtics big three, but I am ECSTATIC about Texas A&M's man Acie Law in his rookie year helping the Hawks get to the playoffs for the first time in 9 years! I will be jumping up and down and screaming for the Hawks to beat the Celtics.

2. Magic vs. Raptors - I like Dwight Howard of the Magic, and T.J. Ford of the Raptors is from Texas-Austin. Go Magic!

3. Pistons vs. 76ers - No Preference

4. Cavaliers vs. Wizards - No Preference. Haven't these guys played each other enough in the first round during the last few years?? I guess it still will be good to (as usual) see Arenas vs. Lebron.

Post your teams for the first round in this thread.

West

1 vs. 8 LA Lakers v. Denver: It would be absolutely hilarious if Denver wins this series right after Carmelo Anthony's arrest. They could do it, Denver is no pushover and the first 8 seed I've ever seen with 50 wins. I still favor the Lakers to win though.

2 vs. 7 New Orleans v. Dallas: If ever there was a series where the 7 seed should be favored over the 2 seed this is it. The Mavs are hot, New Orleans is not. The playoff experience difference is huge, too. Mavs win.

3 vs. 6 San Antonio v. Phoenix: This is the series I think is most likely to go 7 games. Somehow I think the Spurs get it done but this is not the first round matchup they wanted.

4 vs. 5 Utah v. Houston: Houston has the home field advantage in this one despite being the number 5 seed. Unless Houston is better without Yao Ming I still think it's likely Utah will beat them again.

East

1 vs. 8 Boston v. Atlanta: If Atlanta wins this series it would be the biggest upset of all time. I favor Boston to win.

2 vs. 7 Detroit v. Philadelphia: Detroit is heavily favored here, and should be.

3 vs. 6 Orlando v. Toronto: Toronto is a good team, I think Orlando is better though.

4 vs. 5 Cleveland v. Washington: Definitely the most interesting first round series of the east. Cleveland got a bye in the first round last year playing against the Gilbert Arenas-less Wizards last year. Washington wants revenge. Both teams are limping into the playoffs. I say Washington wins, but whoever wins is cannon fodder for Boston.
