To gay marriage backers:
Here is my opinion on the subject:
Right now, I think that it's important to pursue the soft-sell. In the present state of affairs, gay marriage is almost inevitable as long as there isn't a backlash and as long as our backers continue showing the wonderful support that they have over the past few years. As long as it is safe for gays and lesbians to live without any fear of stigma or intimidation, the gay community should be held responsible for winning society's heart on such rights as marriage and adoption by their own efforts. I think that the most important services that could be rendered upon the gay community in the coming decades will be those that contribut to our ability to live and speak openly and frankly on issues that affect us. As long as the gay community makes of itself a welcome part of Western society, we shouldn't have any difficulty finalizing our place in it. Governor Schwarzeneggar has taken the most right course on this subject, neither extending rights to the GLBTQ community nor condoning attempts by our adversaries to stir further panic and divisiveness on this subject. Of all politicians, he has taken the strongest stance in finally settling this issue. Although there have been those who have objected to his tactics, they have helped to squelch the ability of either political party to use us as political pawns in their perennial squabbling. The gay community will be rewarded in time if they are persistent in insisting upon the completion of their social equality, just as long as there are no significant barriers to them being able to do so.
I am a strong advocate of the idea that the only thing that society truly owes to the gay community is a fighting chance at defending ourselves on issues that affect us. Beyond this, I feel that the future of the gay community in Western society should pivot upon the efforts and initiatives of both the gay community and those who sympathize at heart with our cause.
Do keep in mind, however, that our society must, at all costs, prevent this society from returning to the days in which gays, lesbians, and transexuals were treated as freaks and deviants. This cannot be allowed. The crimes of the past must not be repeated. This is something that Western society has a deep moral obligation to prevent. We must not be at war with our own. If we cannot coexist peacefully with one another, our society is truly damned, and this applies to us all.
Just to stress the point, my sentiments fall thusly: as much as I would like to be able to seal my future with the one person I have chosen to share my heart with, it is important for us all to remember the more universal idea that we must all learn to coexist with one another. I have a deep confidence that, if we all keep this at heart, I will not have long to wait. If we are at peace with one another, we cannot persist in denying one another the full benefits of being partners in justice.

What is with this really negative attitude toward transsexuals?

1) Enlightenment to whom? Not to me.
2) Just as the lot here are easily critical of the religious community--some even "religiously" critical, I too am very critical of the transgendered. It is very disturbing to know that people believe that they're females, or males, trapped inside a different body. If you cannot see how ridiculous such a thing sounds, I can't help you with anything. It comes across very insulting and ungrateful, just shows one of the sickness in the mind of people.
If a psychiatrists advices a transgendered to get an operation then that psychiatrists deserves to have its degree and position taken and itself put through psychiatric help. I wonder what my psych. will tell me if I say "I am a lion trapped inside a human body. Why can't I just be myself?" Would he advice me to get a mane and tail implant?
If you're gay, be gay. Just don't go about thinking you need breasts and a penectomy. You will still be a male, albeit a deformed one.

Jail time / Psychiatric help for the transgendered and transvestites
This one's so going on FSTDT....
Ha, that would have worked if it wasn't that I'm not a fundamentalist.
Would you have preferred I typed
"LET EVERYONE DO WHAT THEY WANT FREE FROM RELIGION!! RELIGION IS THE CAUSE OF WAR, IGNORANCE, AND HATE!!"
You people.
The exoskeleton still sounds like a good idea, though.
So they should get jailtime just because YOU find them disgusting?
Sickness in the mind of people, I would consider that to the ones who comit crimes like rape and stuff like that. And it makes sense, doesn't it?
That's your opinion, and it is appreciated.
Why not?
This shows lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject.

~What goes on in the mind of certain people who want to exert some sort of control over their different counterparts?? Perhaps they aren't happy with their own lives, by chance maybe they were beaten as a child and spit in the face by those who were supposed to love them unconditionally, or is it that they have so loose control over their own lives that they have to project themselves as superiour to make endsmeat of what solittle they have? I think it's a conglomeration of nastiness nomatter.

Marriage is a human creation that was taken over by religious leaders. If gays want to marry, it should be sanctioned. Geez, do we need more reasons for people to hate each other?

I would love the chance to search your homes to find your KKK clothes.
Sometimes I wonder who the real men are?
Aww.. this is just a playground for oscuria.
I think oscuria enjoys ticking folks off, although he has made some pretty reasonable posts in the past.

Although I'm not an atheist or fundmentally religious, I really don't see anything wrong with gay marriage and I really see nothing that holy and virutious of marriage.
After many acceptions that have been taken into Christianity, why would being gay be frowned upon considering they made divorce possible and adultery forgiveable. I wonder what Jesus would think since he was known as a forgiving man. Religious or not, many of the scriptures were written by men aka witnesses to the holy testimony although as humans we all have our own version or like to add on a version to a story.
It just seems that in this society saints and sinners really frown upon people of a different sexual orientation. With a little common sense and not so much analytical ego-centricity, it's pretty obivious they were born this way as many people are born with differences. From opinion, I don't see what is wrong with two grown consenting adults who love eachother and aren't hurting anyone else. Maybe this statement comes off as blunt without all the details but I thought I'd add my input anyway.
