Often when I’m walking alone outside I’m keenly aware of all the sounds that surround me.
There’s this particular place on the lower floor of my building that I walk by each morning. There’s a vent somewhere that makes this really beautiful forlorn sound. When I stand there I automatically imagine some melody emerging out of it. When I’m in the right mood it can make my spine tingle.
Am I really weird? Does no one else ever have this kind of experience? |

| I have that experience a lot. Such as when I hear a sudden high-pitched noise, my heart rate increases and I think of my alarm clock. |

There's a place I love to go to in the mountains nearby, where you can step out onto a rock lip overhanging a bluff, and sit and listen to the wind whipping through the forest. It's like the voice of the Earth, or hearing the trees talk to each other. Very moving and calming at once.

I have often heard music or voices when water or air passes through pipes. I don't think any have effected me emtionally Other then wondering if I was going insane before I realized where the sounds was coming from  )
I do love the sounds of water over rocks,bubbeling brooks sounds and also rain, both are common soothers, that are often in "sound machines" meant to relax people. I don't find bird sounds or frog/cricket sounds soothing...they creep me out. I think this is because they were often in scary movies in the 70's...(along with those creepy, little kids singing or chanting...brrrrr).

Yes, like music from so far away, you can't quite make out the specific melody. And voices the same way, as if heard through a wall, or from such a distance the words are never distinct. I know that sensation well.

I have a collection of various Cds with all different types of rain on them, loud violent thunderstorms, to rainforest, to gentle rain on pine needles with birds in the distance. That sort of white noise is very soothing. It stimulates the brain to a fever pitch, while relaxing the body.

| Butalism at its finest. I tend to attempt to emulate those kinds of sounds in my music, usually trying bring them back in and out, weaving behind the rhythms. |

Ha! I’m the exact opposite. I like certain sounds precisely because they are creepy. Spooky sounds are beautiful to me, even if they put me slightly on edge. I love getting goose bumps. Some other examples are distant horns or the sound the wind makes when it comes through a small crack. As for spooky bird songs I really like the hermit thrush. Loon songs are also extremely creepy/haunting, yet beautiful at the same time. |

| In San Antonio, there's a train that comes through the city every night. It always passes by around the same time - 11:30pm, and sometimes again at 12:30. It's a long freight train. It has a beautiful, long, mournful whistle. I loved hearing it when I was lying in bed at night or taking the dog for a late stroll. So consistent, through all of life's highs and lows . . . I know I'm not the only one to attach such sentimentality to a train whistle. |

sometimes the sound of cars or trains im in, fans, static, rain and some other stuff echo my feelings, and less often i can hear melodies or patterns
i think for me its when im in a certain mindset, not the specific noise
birds and crickets just plain piss me off

I like to just listen to varying pitches. Whenever I am doing homework, I start an application I made that will play just pitches with a little vibrato, you can set it to random, or you can set it to play certain scales, or just play one pitch, and you can change the vibrato.
Though I am not releasing this program, because I lost the source coding when my hard drive failed ;( |

If I am sitting in complete silence, sometimes I start hearing this extremely high pitched, continuous noise. It seems to be coming from nowhere. Once it starts, it follows me everywhere even when there is other noise for atleast 20 minutes. It emotionally stirrs me...makes me angry as it feels like my head is going to explode.
Well, it's not so much a common noise. For all I know I could be imagining it.
