I don't know why, but for ages, I've always hated people who smiled constantly. They just triggered a strong feeling of revolt.
How do you feel when you're around people who smile all the time? Is it normal to be disgusted by their cheery behaviour?

I find myself annoyed by the overly chatty NT I'm stuck in an office with. She's real big on the smiling thing. Although I'm not sure if I'm annoyed with the smiling itself, or her overemphasis on inane social pleasantries. She comes across as very....insincere. I'm not sure how to explain it accurately, but that's the impression I get from her.

I know what you mean Yupa, I'm the same way. I think it's creepy and false, no one's really that constantly happy.

I don't hate them, but I have an innate distrust of such people. I am far more comfortable around people once I have seen them irritated or angry.

Not only do they seem phony and false to me, but it is unnerving to have to look at all those teeth gaping at me, I can't concentrate! Shocked

It doesn't annoy me in the least bit, unless it's obviously phony, but I would hardly say that's always the case. Normally, I think it's beautiful.

There is nothing wrong with being a happy person, but a constant, glued-on smile bothers me. It is fake, looks like the person is hiding something (which could possibly be dangerous, like insanity), and can also make the person look like a simpleton.

I like people that smile all the time.

They give off positive vibes and it makes me happy.

This is why some "smiley" people bother me. Their smiles usually look fake. A genuine-looking smile makes me feel more at ease, but an obviously fake one sets my BS alarm off. I wonder what they're hiding.

Some smiley people don't bother me as they seem to radiate genuine good cheer. Others give off nasty vibes, and when you get to know them better they turn out to be manipulative fakes, catching the unwary out. Being fake nice must be a terrible thing - having to keep your true evil self locked up like that... Razz

Who is that? He isn't bad looking! Wink Oh, oops, it doesn't matter...I'm taken... Embarassed Laughing

At any rate, that guy's smile isn't the sort that bothers me. The kidn I am talkign about can be seen on the faces of doctors who want you to shut up and not ask too many questions, teachers, realtors, Christians, women who are unhappy but are trying desperately to exude a positive attitude, and Jehovah's Witnesses, among others....

No, I like it when people smile. If you're feeling bad, a smile can change your mood on its own.

Jehova's Witnesses -are- Christians. Why did you mention them seperately?

Yupa, Jehovah's Witness is far from Christian, they're uber communist apocalyptic neo-Buddhists. I should posty myself smiling, I could easily do the smile we're all thinking of.
