Put NT’s in a foreign environment where they do not understand the social norms, customs, etc and have the people around them expect them to understand said social norms, customs, etc.

it is just a thought Smile

They'd struggle at first, but learn more quickly than the aspies would.

that is not the oint, it is so NT's can understand what it is like to be autistic. Learning quicker has nothing to do with it.

It's really not the same situation. The average NT knows that it is a temporary difficulty that he can overcome given some time and practice.

it's called international travel...Wink Tried it. Didn't do too badly myself, but the farther south in Europe I got, the colder and more distant people were to me.

I've tried to describe AS as being forever in middle school, then dumped in Kazahkstan...Wink

I have tslked to some NT's and they think this is a good idea. They learn through observation, but goin through the experience of not knowing they can generalize how it feels everyday. Experiments like this had been done much earlier where people would tan theri skin so they would appear black and could experience what it felt like being black. It would be an experiment done under controlled conditions.

I've seen it, it was very advantageous to me to see what the NTs were doing to adapt, else I think I would still be wandering lost and clueless in that foreign country...

I don't agree that they'd necessarily adapt faster or better -- experience at having to consciously pay attention to social customs, etc. is not something that people who have it happen automatically would learn to do (unless they do have contact with another culture(s)).

I've seen people very disoriented by culture shock where it wasn't too much different than regular life for me in the culture I grew up in. In some ways it was even easier because other people don't automatically assume you're going to understand everything. More mutuality of effort.

Solve the problem:

Don't tell the neurotypical they are going! And don't tell them where!

Eh, who cares? Neurotypicals are mostly idiots, anyways.
About the only things they've ever invented were spears and guns, and they made guns enitirely by accident!
