If these don't exist, they should.
We put up with a hell of a lot, and I think we deserve some sh** for that!
People get scholarships for sports, which mean very little as a whole.
Why can't the ones who really have it tough get rewarded? _________________ Two Headed Boy

I got some scholarships. Not specifically for being Aspie, though. There are a couple Aspie scholarships, but probably not enough to be worth going after. _________________ WAR IS PEACE

I've been on a scholarship hunt for a while. What I figured out is this: don't look for Asperger's Syndrome; that's way too narrow. Autism is okay, but you're still not going to find anything really. Your best bet is to look for scholarships for neurodevelopmental disorders. _________________ "I am to misbehave" - Mal

| Well there should be more scholarships for Aspies. I mean, people get scholarships for being black, or for some other minority. Why can't we get ones for our difference? We work twice as hard than NT's. |

What I would like to do is initiate a small scholarship and name it in honor of my late aspie-ish Grandma.
I would think of myself as the first recipient of it (in 1993) and the second as well, since I am taking classes using money I earned with the job I got with that degree.
It would be for a person on the spectrum attending the local technical college here, since they have scholarships with names like "MATC African-American Male" and one for Lesbian Latinas. I figure if I am giving money to someone, I get to set the rules. The applicants would have to write an essay and I would choose the recipient. |

Yeah, if I ever get a solid/steady income, I'm going to set up a scholarship for aspies as well. _________________ "I am to misbehave" - Mal

Apply for what is out there and write a kick butt essay on how you are going to change the world, advocate for those on the spectrum, and be an all around Renaisance person. Many colleges also have advocacy offices for those with disabilities, and some departments want to recruit members to 'increase diversity' as they get more funding and can put claims in their brochures.
You will get the gun and the girl. (I really don't know where I got that, but oh well). |
