WrongPlanet.net is a web community designed for individuals with Asperger''s Syndrome. We provide a forum, where members can communicate with each other, an article section, where members may read and submit essays or how-to guides about various subjects, and a chatroom for real-time communication with other Aspies. Asperger''s Syndrome, a pervasive deveolpment disorder, is a form of autism. People with Asperger''s Syndrome usually have normal or above normal IQ''s. It is described as an inability to understand how to interact socially.

How come? Since IQ is one of the determining factors in an AS diagnosis, setting Asperger's apart from other stripes along the autism spectrum, it is part of a range of measurements which define and determine who we are. It's like my hair being dirty blonde, it is somewhere lighter than brunette, but not lacking the pigment of an albino, so it must be considered blonde; it is within that range.
Or, do I not understand at all? Maybe I should just go ahead and buy one of your totally awesome T-shirts and shut up! _________________ Onward Through The Fog!

| It's not the concept of IQ that's annoying. It's because it's not supposed to be 'IQ"s.' |

Yes, exactly. The extra apostrophe is just kind of annoying. |

Wow, I never noticed that. It should be changed. After all, we're way too smart for typographical errors! |

| If we want to go all Standard English on it (and I know we do) there shouldn't be ANY apostrophe in a capitalized plural acronym. |

Your IQ has nothing to do with which diagnosis you get. They only measure your IQ, to see which areas you score well in, and which areas you do bad in. They do this, mainly to substitute for the communication/language part of the DSM-IV. |

IQ is a contributing variable by which it is determined where along the spectrum a diangnosis lies. A clinician may not use IQ as a determining factor, but by definition of ASD variables, IQ mitigates AS classifications. _________________ Onward Through The Fog!
