First the guy detained at the airport last week for wearing a Transformers T-shirt and now this. Cheers Brits, it's starting to look like you are even further down the police-state path to serfdom than we are here in Bush country. _________________ Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. | It is misleading to say he was arrested for laughing when it was for refusing to cooperate with police conducting an investigation - failing to identify himself and wrestling to close the door when the po-po demanded entrance. When police get called to an apartment, how do they know that the person who opens the door a crack is the owner, not a home invader who tied up the owners in a back room? If the police get a call about a couple arguing, should they just go away if a woman comes to the door, refuses to open, but says she is ok and everything is fine?? |

| it would have been simpler if he had just given his name and said he was watching an extremely funny show and was laughing so hard he fell off the chair. but i would not think that stuff like this gets taken that far.....why bother? waste of time for all concerned. |

| There's two sides to every story. The bloke was probably making an arse of himself. If he wasn't perhaps I'd have more sympathy. |

Canada seems quite a bit freer than Britain. I plan to visit in a few months' time, so I'll put it to the acid test. Of the European countries I've visited so far I'd say that I felt Denmark was the freest. A lot of Swedes cross the Øresund bridge to visit a place where they can feel free. I must admit I liked it there. |

No, this isn't actually the fault of Brit cops. That jackass Cocker got himself in trouble. A situation straight out of Mr. Bean. I'd be surprised if this real-life incident were not an echo of a Rowan Atkinson scenario. If you were the cops in Britain, how woud you have responded to this situation? Mr Cocker, pictured in OP, certainly has the ravishing good looks for which the Brits are world-famous. |
